Still no verdict as Ventura jury breaks for weekend

Friday marked the fourth day of jury deliberations in Jesse Ventura's defamation lawsuit against a former Navy SEAL, and the jurors still had no verdict when they were dismissed for the weekend.

The jury has logged more than 24 hours of deliberations. It is slated to reconvene at 9 a.m. Monday.

The case centers on whether Chris Kyle, a SEAL sniper-turned-author, fabricated a story that he decked the former Minnesota governor after Ventura bad-mouthed SEALs and the war in Iraq. Kyle was shot and killed at a gun range in Texas in 2013, but Ventura continued his suit against Kyle's estate.

Kyle's widow, Taya Kyle, lives in Texas but has been in Minnesota for the trial at the federal courthouse in St. Paul.

Chris Kyle knocked nutty Jesse to the deck and now he sues Kyle’s widow. I hope the jury pours him out and the judge deems his lawsuit frivolous.

Am I reading this right? He’s suing a dead Navy SEAL’s widow/estate because he got his butt kicked (or supposedly didn’t) in a bar fight? That makes him lower than the faux Sergeant Major at the military funeral the other day and that’s saying something. And yes, I know that Jesse was in the service at one point.

I think they will say Ventura was defamed and award him $25.

About what he would have made any way.

Gotta figure they have determined Ventura was defamed and now are arguing over damages.

I would suspect they are held up on an “actual malice” instruction.

Just a guess, I have no idea what the jury instructions actually are but since he is a public figure ...

IMHO..Jesse was Severely Brain-Damaged from the event.
That was a "Pissing" contest in the beginning and Jesse
lost badly. His "Diminished Manhood" won't let him forget,
so he takes it out on the guy's widow.
"Poor whittle little Jesse"..IS a real @$hat.

Ventura suing the widow of this American hero is a new low and he must have had to dig to find a lawyer sleazy enough to take this case.

If you have Hulu-Plus check out Ventura's movie debut in a stink bomb film Abraxis lampooned by the Minnesota comedy group Riff Trax

SEALs were always `choking-out’ one another and doing a lot of other physical things/pranks, like frat stuff. I bailed a couple of them out of county jail in San Diego who had taken after each other with baseball bats. No hard feeling, best friends. Just drunk.
Jesse was UDT, not a SEAL, and not a war hero, wore a pink feather boa and if he took steroid drugs muscle enhancers, like many `pro’ wrestlers, he probably had `bitch’s teats’ at one time or another.
He shot his mouth off running down SEALs, Kyle `popped’ him and he hired a lawyer. Bitch move. So that’s pretty much his story. I anticipate `QB VII’ damages of, say, about $2.00.

What’s to deliberate? A bunch of witnesses said Jesse was mouthing off in a SEAL bar and Kyle cold cocked him. End of story. He should have kept his big mouth shut.

Jesse had his own witnesses who said nothing happened. Kyle’s witnesses often contradicted each other, and one admitted he’d had “15 to 20 drinks” before he witnessed the altercation. Also, they showed a videotaped deposition Kyle did before he was killed where he admitted that parts of his story were not true. Not a slam dunk case by any means.

I live in Minneapolis. Jesse Ventura was a wrestling favorite. He was our Governor. Jesse Ventura (James Janos) was proud to be a Navy Seal. I can’t imagine that he would insult them.

Second: How many long haird old hippies are in San Diego?
Is it possible that another old hippie was trashing the Seals? Could Chris have mistaken one old hippie for Jesse?

The Jesse Ventura I know of would NEVER dis a Navy Seal. Never.

Methinks the wrestler doth protest too much.

If it didn’t happen at all, there’d be no need to press the issue to the point of suing the man’s widow. Even if Jesse was butthurt enough to file the suit in the first place (when Chris was alive), if it never happened there would be no honor at all in trying to hurt Chris’s widow and children.

Besides, Jesse has defamed himself much worse than Chris ever could have:

Ventura was UDT. He was never a USN SEAL...never.

Read what real USN SEALS have to say about him. Comments include one by Ventura’s UDT/BUDS classmate confirming JV’s UDT status and Non-SEAL status.

http://navyseals.com/2572/jesse-ventura-sets-sights-on-slain-navy-seal-chris-kyle/

So you REALLY know/knew Jesse Ventura? Pray tell how.

The real bitter laugh is a man who wore pink boas in the rassling ring getting on his high horse about his reputation.

Someone ought remind JV that once he passes on anyone can say anything about him. Dead men, even a$$holes like jessee can’t sue for libel or slanderm. His actions against Kyle’s window near guarantee a dearth of pallbearers at his demise.

The whole thing should have been dropped after Kyle’s death. If he had issued a statement expressing sorrow for her loss, said something complimentary about the deceased, and announced that he was dropping the suit, no one could fault him for that. Now Jesse loses even if he wins.
