US says photos show Russian artillery fired on Ukraine
Yahoo News ^ | July 27, 2014 | AFP

The United States on Sunday released satellite images to bolster its claim that Russian artillery has fired across the border into Ukraine, targeting government forces in support of separatist rebels.

The four images, prepared by the office of the Director of National Intelligence and forwarded to reporters by the State Department, show sections of the Russia-Ukraine frontier.

Two show what the US government alleges are Russian batteries on its own territory -- one group of multiple rocket launchers and another of self-propelled howitzers.

Pictures also show impact craters near military positions on the Ukrainian side of the frontier.

A third picture shows what Washington alleges is Russian-supplied heavy weaponry being fired by separatists from within Ukraine.

"The wide area of impacts near the Ukrainian military units indicates fire from multiple rocket launchers. The bottom impact crater inset shows impacts within a local village," the caption said.

Moscow denies directly intervening in the Ukraine conflict and has accused Washington of mounting a smear campaign against it.

Washington turned up the pressure Thursday, alleging Russia had fired across the border and planned to deliver "heavier and more powerful multiple rocket launchers" to its rebel allies.

Then, the State Department cited only "intelligence information" to back up its claim before releasing the photographs on Sunday to strengthen its case.

Ukraine also claims two of its fighter jets were downed by missiles fired from Russian territory, but its US ally has yet to confirm this.

Fears of the damage that Russian arms could do in the hands of Ukraine's separatists increased sharply after a civilian Malaysian airliner was shot down over rebel territory with the loss of 298 lives.

I believe your post was meant for me.

What if some of those nukes were in rebel held territory?

Good question. I would like to think the government could maintain control over its nukes, but I could see the opposite happening, too.

It would certainly complicate the situation. Do we have to thank Bill Clinton? Don’t know if I can do that.

Interesting... The Russians are claiming someone drew the border in the wrong place, in the US photos that were released. Anybody google earth this, yet?

No problem, give Jack a pocket multi-tool and a 9mm automatic, parachute him in, thrity dead badguys later, problem solved.

That's how the real world works.

The current situation was not much better.

I posted an article yesterday in which the Malaysians said that their 3 investigators were allowed by the rebels only 3 hours/day on thee site, and aside from 1 other investigator they were the only ones on the site.

Former State Dept official just spoke and said this is not how the state dept. puts things out, nor how they release important information....he said he’s ‘highly’suspescious because..... HE said it was released at about 4:00 in the morning and further that how it’s put together is sloppy and quote ....”that’s not how the state dept does things”

Thus far nobody has located the actual source of who released it.....but MSM is going with it regardless. State dept hasn’t commented to confirm or not the last I knew.

Has anybody heard the state dept. actually confirming this is theirs?

That’s why I pinged you because I can always count on you to tell us what the Russians are saying —

Keep up the good work.

I’m paying attention to what BOTH sides are saying. You only seem to care what one is saying.

Former State Dept official just spoke and said this is not how the state dept. puts things out

So you are saying then that Obama appointees did not pre-approve this.

The fact that it is not State Department approved adds even more to its credibility.

That’s not true — you are our ears into the Kremlin.

Keep posting what they’re saying.

......”I would like to think the government could maintain control over its nukes”........

Kiev Government has no control over anything since they assumed office....conflict is not only in E.Ukraine, and the city of Keiv still not stable, but Western Ukraine is now having events occurring.

Further, in the East there are vast armor storage areas, which the separatists did acquire guns and ammo etc. from.....so if or not any nukes left there remains to be seen or known about IMO.

Well,... the guy who spoke was highly irritated because the public is believing a lot of the propoganda that’s being released...and it’s being released by those who are interested in creating friction between Russia and the Us as well as others playing “armchair” warriors.

I have to tell you that in this past week , aside from the MH17 incident, the degree of propaganda has escalated......some of the stuff is remarkably distorted and easy to see that it is, but what’s more remarkable is the people who are believing what they want to believe rather than any concern of where the source is or who it’s coming from.

Well they say desperate times calls for desperate measures and the Keiv regime seems awfully desperate. Why not a cease fire until this crash scene is investigated?
