Lamar Alexander, the two-term Republican senator from Tennessee, is in a strong position to win reelection this November. But only if he can get through his August 7 primary.
Polling has been scarce in the race between Alexander and his GOP primary challenger, state representative Joe Carr, though the incumbent enjoys advantages in fundraising and name recognition (Alexander twice served as governor in the 1980s). An independent poll in January found Carr down by 40 points.
But with Carr getting somewhat of a boost from endorsements by radio host Laura Ingraham and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, an independent outside group supporting Alexander isn't taking any chances. Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions has a new TV ad running in the Nashville and Knoxville markets that, according to Politico, is a $257,000 buy over the final week and a half of the primary.
The spot refers to Alexander as a "conservative leader" and references unrest in the Middle East and the border crisis. Watch the ad below:
The ad attempts to address the chief argument Carr is making in the primary: that Alexander has been too soft on immigration. The voiceover says Alexander is "working to secure our nation [and] strengthening our borders" before moving on to tout the senator's record on energy.

Lamar has had ads running in Nashville on TV and radio. I would not think he would waste his money on them if he were really ahead by 40 points.

The big lie.
Alexander is open borders (except once every six years, which coincidentally happens to fall during his reelection). Not only that, but he loves liberal judges. And he has no problem with huge deficits. In short, Alexander is a political cross-dresser.
There is a slight problem on the Tennessee ballots, namely that there are 7 (!) options for the Republican candidacy for Senate. I’d say that Lamar is deliberately funding dummy candidates in order to reduce the potency of the “Anyone But Lamar” crowd.
We Tennesseans need to ask that all of the other candidates except for Joe Carr ask to remove themselves from the ballot, so that we have a better chance of grinding this RINO fool into the dirt.
Not if the GOPe has its way.
Is Carr running any ads, and do you know if his campaign has the finances to compete until the vote on August 7th?
Alexander appears to have NO ONE running against him since none of his ads do NOT even acknowledge or attack an opponent.

If you are State District 81 I strongly suggest you replace our current follow me rep, with a LEADER not a follower. He opposes amnesty, is Pro Life, 2nd A, 5th gen farmer, businessman, and a Constitutional Conservative, Christian.

I have not heard any Carr ads, and no I don’t think his campaign is well-funded. I have seen yard signs.
