Ah, another glorious moment in America’s drug war.
Three San Antonio Police officers are being investigated for possibly using excessive force, after a May 20 incident in west San Antonio left a man with injuries to his face, skull and neck.
Roger Carlos was in the 10600 block of Westover Hills Boulevard taking photos of a building that will soon be home to his wife’s medical practice, when he was approached by three officers around 2:30 p.m.
The officers were identified as an undercover drug task force officer and two SAPD SWAT members.
According to an SAPD incident report released to I-Team, the officers had been pursuing a suspect nearby who was wanted on a felony warrant.

“All three of them started beating me on the head,” said Carlos, who still showed visible signs of the beating when he spoke with KENS 5 weeks after the incident.
“It was unbelievable. I couldn’t believe it was happening to me.”
Carlos said he was struck about 50 times, even though he complied with the officers’ instructions and did not fight back.
Shortly after being handcuffed and explaining to officers that he owned the property, a fourth officer approached and said the suspect was in custody nearby.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus says it was a case of “mistaken identity,” ... “From the report that I’ve read, from the photo that I saw and from your description, I’ve not seen anything at this point that would indicate to me that anything out of order happened.”

Incidents like this seem to be on the rise. It’s ominous.
The officers made it home safe and that’s all that matters.
The money Roger Carlos wins from the department should be taken from the police pension fund. Why should the taxpayer foot the bill. Until police feel the pain their actions cause, they will continue to inflict pain on the taxpayers.

It was 2:30 in the afternoon. What’s the charge? Operating a camera while being latino? What do you think Real Estate people do all day long? Take pictures of buildings.

I realize that the hatred for cops here runs deep, so I’ll get much more flamed, even saying maybe this guy’s story is totally true, and if so, we’re really screwed, but something smells to me...
After 9 11 the nation was well aware that taking pictures of buildings was suspicious behavior, so, THat’s what came to my mind.
The guys who blew up the trade center studied it, and even planted a bomb in the basement in 1993.
Perhaps there are many here who don’t recall this, but it’s indelible in my mind. If I want to take photos of a building, I would certainly tell te manager. And why not.

Well, if you don’t want this crap happening in your community, elect a pro-2nd amendment, Constitutional sheriff in your county. With a constitutional sheriff, you can:
1. Investigate political, left-wing police commissioners appointed by a commie mayor.
2. Throw leftist police chiefs out of your community.
3. Buy surplus military equipment.
4. Investigate and imprison left wing commies in your local government.
5. Tell Rambo federal police thugs to stay out of your county - or else.
6. Organize an armed 2,000 man auxiliary deputy force for “emergencies.”
I live under the protection of a constitutional sheriff. So should you.

Yeah, I think I’ll believe him. It doesn’t appear to me that they had any reason to beat him. He wasn’t breaking any laws when they pounced.
If you aren’t doing anything wrong...You don’t have anything to worry about...
I belong to a photography forum and not long after 9/11 there were a bunch of incidents where cops stopped people who were simply taking photographs.
The end result was basically that the courts gave the cops a legal barb wire enema. No, taking photos of buildings, trees, family or just street photography is not suspicious activity.
If that police chief said that it is he is going to get a lesson pretty soon.
I suspect what he really said is that some types of photography can be suspicious, such as taking photos of people in the rest room, up girls skirts etc.

Just wonder when there’s going to be a breakout of vigilante justice on cops who do this stuff? We are very close to the tipping point. Don’t like dead anybody, but the time is coming.

Throw a swat uniform on a guy who envisions him self as a special forces team member and this is what you get. Put 3-4 of these loons together and turn them loose on society with a boss who sees no evil and your town is going to pay a boatload of settlements.
