After two days of working in the stifling heat, law enforcement officers and inmates have removed more than 100,000 pot plants from 29 fields in Polk County. The estimated street value of the marijuana is $175 million, one of the biggest busts in Texas history. They also found some cell phones in the fields that theyre hoping will lead to the ringleader of the massive operation.

they were also growing cell phones?
Big deal, that much is crosses the southern border every few days, already packaged......
There's no profit in it. You ever try to keep one of those things lit?
My father had a deer stand in that vicinity of Polk County. I used to hunt squirrels around there.
I’d love to personally put a bullet in the brains of each of the dopehead scumbags responsible for planting those fields.
Try Mexican cartel.
They use our national forests as well.
In the past the cops and courts have said one plant will produce one pound of salable pot. 100k lb.s of pot @ $175 million is $175 per pound. That’s some danged cheap pot.
A million pounds of pot at $175 million is $175/lb. 100k lbs at $175 million is $1750/lb.
We just smiled and waved....sittin’ on that sack of seeds.
Oops! You’re right. I must have dropped a zero on my calculator. That’s more like it but it would still be shwag prices by today’s standards.
Polk Salad Annie?
I hope they haul it up to Colorado and sell it. Take the money and buy some new equipment.
I'll have to take you word on that. I always found these kinds of estimates to be amusing. About half of the plants are going to be male, so they're pretty well worthless for pot. Then there's the assumption that all the plants will survive to harvest and produce good yields. If a farmer lost a corn crop in the middle of summer and filed an insurance claim estimating it's value by the same method it would be considered fraud.
So you want to murder people who plant hemp.....
I’m sure you can provide the calm, rational tone needed for an adult discussion.
Your numbers are all jacked up....BTW it’s always cheaper at wholesale prices. Gets expensive after it passes through a dozen or so buyers at the store/consumer levels.
No different than anything else...
Usually these reports have a vastly overestimated price based on the amount seized which always makes me wonder if some of the dope isn’t making it to the impound locker.
That’s one helluva “Polk Salad, Annie”, isn’t it?

There is a huge variation in quality depends on the type of seeds they used. If it is the brown frown, Mexican dirt, crap, it can be as cheap as 50 an ounce. If they planted a modern hybrid strain, it could go for as much as 500 or more an ounce. If the seeds were feminized, males are very rare. That is a lot of seeds for it to be high grade.
Hemp will grow nearly year round in this area and can withstand the frost. We’ve had a ton of rain so it likely took little care. The growers are idiots. There’s no way your going to get away with that many plants outdoors. It will be interesting to see who gets busted and if this cartel or a bunch of idiot stoners.
The number problem was straightened out and there’s hardly a dozen or so hands between growers and users. Whether legal or illegal most people are buying from the growers these days.
They still find patches of feral ditchweed hemp growing wild here in MO. I’ve heard the railroads used to sow it along the right-of-ways for erosion control.
Boy, you got a lot to learn, including math.
Which cartel? The Feds are BOTH SIDES you know!
Legalize it for the idiot stoners and there will be no more cartel of any kind!
Yep, they weigh the dirt ball at the bottom when measuring.
I remember that song.
I hope they searched those inmates real good when they got back to the joint, or they’re gonna be real popular- and rich.
The DEA has to stop domestic production from ruining their lucrative import business. This is so quintessentially American today; punish the domestic producer and enable foreign product.
This isn’t like in CO or OR, or one of those vicinities highly populated by degenerate liberal hippie trash. This is closer to my own backyard. The land I trapse.
Murder? More like taking out the trash. In East Texas, my family, forebearers, and their neighboring peers had a common, prevailing motto, you’d hear more than just about any other. That “some people just need killin.” It cast a wide net, but there was never any question that it included child molesters, pimps and dope-peddlers. The scum of the earth. And don’t doubt for a minute that I could personally dispatch any of those three from the face of the earth without the slightest pang of conscience.
At that point, providers would no more be "cartels" than Seagrams and Coors are "bootleggers."
You will not be allowed into the kingdom with that.
