False claims may allow illegal immigrants to stay in the US
Fox News ^ | July 29, 2014 | John R. Lott Jr.

Why are tens of thousands of unaccompanied children traveling thousands of miles to the U.S.? Is it to avoid violence? Or is it for a chance to live in a much wealthier country?

The answer will likely determine whether they can stay.

ADVERTISEMENT Last week, Fox News’ Catherine Herridge cited a government report showing that 219 of 230 illegal immigrants who were interviewed said they came to the U.S. because they thought they could get a free pass to American citizenship.

Another study, by the Obama administration’s Department of Homeland Security, acknowledged that many “are probably seeking economic opportunities in the U.S.” But it also noted that others “come from extremely violent regions where they probably perceive the risk of traveling alone to the U.S. preferable to remaining at home.”

Yet, despite the reverence the New York Times attaches to this one page Homeland Security report, it isn’t very convincing. It doesn’t really account for any other differences across countries. At the very least, what really needs to be done is to see how the rate of children coming from a particular country or city changes as the crime rate from that area goes up and down. . . .

The media is missing the irony in the fact that in order to pursue his agenda, Obama is luring people here that are eager to escape the type of country he wants to create.

Send the freeloading, little liars home. Any DemocRAT will tell you that America is no place to raise a child. Haven’t these idiots every heard about Gabby Giffords or Newtown. This joint is more dangerous than Honduras. GO HOME!

Yep. It is just one more issue, among many issues, in the divorce. The rats will never let up, not now, not ever. Can you say CW 11? I like my furniture.

**While talking to Greta Van Susteren on Thursday, Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez placed the blame on violence from drug cartels as the cause of the increase in immigration. **

this chicken and egg argument of blaming cartels on US drug consumption and drug policy, should be trounced.

Canadian and US drug consumption has declined and declined for some time. Paraguay is the largest producer of marijuana in Central America, but we’re not seeing Paraguay sending their children north.

Hernandez needs to come up with a better excuse for gangs of thugs running around his country than drugs in the US and Canada.

It’s not pot:

“North America’s biggest producers are the U.S. and Mexico with Canada a distant third”

{also see: http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/11/25/paraguay.mexico.marijuana/index.html }

It’s not heroin:

“Heroine and other opiates remain the world’s main problem drug in terms of treating users. Most of the world’s users live in Asia.
The rate of consumption has been stable in Canada and the U.S. for years.”

It’s not cocaine:
“Cocaine consumption in North America remains on a downward trend.”

It’s not even methamphetamine:

Canada has emerged as a major producer and shipper of methamphetamine for markets around the world

At the House hearing, Cong Gohmert made the all-inportant point-—w/ actual stats from one homeland honcho-— indicates violent crime is DOWN.

Cong Louie Gohmert (Rep-Tx)--- a former judge --- made a stunning observation at the House hearing on immigration.

If the border swarm are desperate to escape drug violence, why are they paying drug cartels to get them over the border?

This is not the action of someone in mortal fear, "forced" to escape to the US for protection.

====================================================

More likely, the swarm is in collusion w/ the cartels. Better check those backpacks.
