LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Even though L.A. City Councilman Richard Alarcon was convicted of four felonies this week, he’ll continue to receive his $116,000 annual pension, a newspaper reported Friday.

There are some California jurisdictions that prohibit city employees convicted of felonies from receiving pensions. That’s not the case in Los Angeles, a worker in the city’s civilian retirement division told Los Angeles Daily News.

Alarcon, 60, was convicted Wednesday of four counts of perjury and voter fraud for living outside Council District 7 and lying about his address on official documents.

The councilman’s wife, Flora, was convicted of three counts.

Someone just needs to file a class action lawsuit. The taxpayers should get this money.

Such impressive civic wealth - to be able to pay over 100 grand pension to a mere city councilman.

Before I spoke up I thought I would find out a bit more about this guy:

Richard Alarcon is a Los Angeles City Council member. He is a former teacher, community activist, State Senator and State Assembly member.

Councilmember Alarcón lives in Panorama City, California.

He is the brother of Communist Party USA activist Evelina Alarcon.

OK, so the scum bag is a commie, well commie sympathizer as a minimum (see the site for more info to back that up). He was a teacher and that forms part of his pension. I would say hit his pension for the years served in an elective office, but not his teacher pension.

Richard Anthony Alarcón (born November 24, 1953) is a California politician who was a Los Angeles City Council member. A Democrat, he served in the California State Senate and, for approximately three months, in the California State Assembly.

Alarcón first served as an assistant to Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley before gaining a seat on the City Council to represent the 7th District in 1993. One year into his second term as a City Councilman, Alarcón resigned to become a State Senator in 1998, representing the 20th Senate district. Term limits prevented him from seeking a third Senate term in December 2006. Among Alarcón’s accomplishments while in the California Senate were workers’ compensation reform and recovery funding for the community of Northridge following the deadly earthquake of 1994. Alarcón served as Majority Whip during all eight of his years in the State Senate.

During the San Fernando Valley secession movement of 2002, there was talk that if the Valley seceded, Alarcon might become mayor of the new city. Alarcon decided not to run for Valley mayor, and instead opposed secession.[1] Alarcon’s council district was the most opposed to secession of any district in the San Fernando Valley.

In 2005, Alarcón ran for mayor of Los Angeles. He finished a distant fifth, gaining less than 2% of the vote, behind Bernard Parks, Bob Hertzberg, incumbent James Hahn, and Antonio Villaraigosa. After serving as a state senator for 8 years, in 2006 Alarcón ran unopposed for California’s 39th State Assembly district representing the San Fernando Valley area.

nowhere in all the new searches I did was that mentioned.

The picture at the source is just PRECIOUS! They helpfully identify Alarcon(R) just in case you don't notice he's a man. On the right side of the photo. Clever.

Make the lo-fos think he's a republican.

Oh, and no media bias, no-siree, no sir.

No voter fraud either. No siree.
