Hoyer: Obama 'Canít Legalize' Illegals--But He Can Decide How to 'Implement the Laws'

House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said that President Obama “can’t legalize” the illegal aliens in the United States, but then added that the president “can implement the laws as he believes they should be implemented."

"Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution states that Congress has the power to make laws governing naturalization. Given this, does President Obama have the unilateral power to legalize illegal aliens?" CNSNews.com asked Hoyer.

“I don’t think he does,” Hoyer responded, “and I don’t think that’s what he’s going to do. You’re right. He can’t legalize them.”

“What the president can in fact do, however, is implement the laws as he believes they should be implemented,” Hoyer added. “And there have been a lot of scholars – and I’m not going to go through the quotes now – who have said the President clearly has broad authority to decide how he’s going to implement the law.”

Get real. obama’s does whatever he wants to do. So do his lackeys.

The people in a position to stop him won’t; the people who are willing to stop him are not in a position to.

Clown Prince nobama should be in prison for his continuing and expanding crimes against the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Rule of Law.

No I’m sorry.

The Constitution states that the President’s job is to execute the laws.

This includes laws he disagrees with.

Prison for what all he has done to this nation? Not hardly. At this point I think the SS would abandon post so he could receive some street justice. Cops do it all the time when they know someone needs a beat down...he’s really pushing his limits. Probably intentionally though. Either way he wins at this point as lompng as the MSM and his base cover him. If he loses any of them he’s done. After people have heard the same BS lines and methods used over and over again they figure things out. His time is marked.

Hmmm...so if we get a conservative president, can he implement the abortion law as he sees fit? Maybe stipulate that only women over 60 can have an abortion?

...who have said the President clearly has broad authority to decide how he’s going to implement the law.

Hell, if Obama Care and many other "laws" are any indication, he thinks he can just rewrite the "laws" in his head and take the fantasy to the bank. So far, nobody has stepped up to stop this lunacy.

That’s FAITHFULLY execute the laws - i.e. to the letter of the law, no fudging a la Steny Hoyer.

And if this is done by Executive Order, it can be undone.

“What the president can in fact do, however, is implement the laws as he believes they should be implemented”

Incorrect. He is obligated to “faithfully” execute the laws. The discretion the Democrats have given the executive in 2014 is the discretion a future Republican will use against them. You live by the Enabling Act, you die by the Enabling Act. There are a million commenters on liberal web sites right now who are ignorantly cheering on their own doom.

The MSM would pound the Reps. every day ,if they tried to rule like the Dems. Does anyone doubt that the Reps. Would cave in a minute?

From Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution:
… he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed …
If he cannot fulfill this obligation then he should resign from office.

-——he should resign from office——

I have been wondering about just that. I have come to think that perhaps the strategy is to make the numerous cases against Obama so bad and so strong that there is a Nixon like Resignation.

Resign or face criminal felony charges

I know, I know , the man is terminally vain but there is a possibility.
