Democrats' Impeachment Fixation
Townhall.com ^ | July 30, 2014 | Jonah Goldberg

Posted on 07/30/2014 4:58:49 AM PDT by Kaslin

"Sorry to email you late on a Friday, but I need your urgent support," Nancy Pelosi wrote me.

The House minority leader went on to explain that "for the first time in history, Congress voted to sue a sitting president." And, "Today: the White House alerted us that they believe 'Speaker Boehner ... has opened the door to impeachment.'

"What Republicans are doing to President Obama is historic -- and offensive," she wrote. And then, in a bright bold red text that can't be done justice in black and white, she chided me, "With everything happening right now, I'm a little disappointed to see that you haven't had a chance to chip in to defend President Obama.

"Jonah -- we could use your support today."

Nancy (apparently we're on a first-name basis) went on to promise that ALL GIFTS ARE TRIPLE MATCHED!

This was only one of a bushel of such emails from the Democratic Party. I particularly like the ones from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee referring to the "red alert impeachment deadline," complete with a scoreboard slowly ticking upward toward $2 million. "We now have a shot at hitting our $2,000,000 goal to defend the President -- and defeat Boehner's Republican House."

No doubt as karmic payback for grave sins I committed in a past life, I am on all of the Democratic fundraising lists. In terms of whipped-up urgency aimed at low-information voters, there's nothing special about these importuning missives. I can't count how many times I've been told that if I don't chip in $5 -- right now! -- the Koch brothers will throw another puppy into the furnace of their land-raping dynamo.

But what is interesting about these emails is the transparent glee. Far more than Republicans, Democrats love talking about impeachment. Not just Pelosi and the DCCC, but White House spokesman Josh Earnest, Obama adviser Dan Pfeiffer and first lady Michelle Obama all chummed the waters with the I-word, igniting a frenzy among reporters who pretend that this is a real thing.

Ostensibly the hook for all of this is John Boehner's decision to sue Obama for abusing presidential authority. Pfeiffer said Friday that the suit "opened the door to impeachment." But pretty much everyone in Washington knows that the political motivation for the lawsuit is to close, not open, those doors.

The president constantly talks about the evils of cynicism as if denouncing the alleged dishonesty of others demonstrates his own honesty. In 2008, he said cynicism was his real opponent. Last week at an L.A. fundraiser, he returned to the theme, calling Republicans liars and bamboozlers.

The cynicism of Obama's war on cynicism is breathtaking. He's wasted so much of his presidency demonizing political opponents as deranged radicals who need to shut up and get in line. Even now he is thumping the podium about "economic patriotism," as if loyalty to his views on taxation is the only proof of 100 percent Americanism.

Last fall, Obama did nearly everything he could to be thrown into the briar patch of a government shutdown in order to denounce the Republicans for shutting down the government. When it went into effect, the administration endeavored to make the shutdown as painful as possible -- a replay of a similar scheme with the sequester -- so he could arouse the public against his political foes.

Given Obama's famously low regard for the Clinton presidency, it's ironic that he keeps stealing from its playbook. Bill Clinton benefited from a government shutdown and impeachment and from the general perception that his enemies were worse than his sins. The difference is that while Clinton was hardly immune to the charge of cynicism, he wasn't trying to shut down the government or get impeached for narrow political advantage.

Now Obama is reportedly considering a unilateral amnesty of millions of immigrants here illegally, knowing full well it will spark a fierce political backlash and heighten impeachment talk. No doubt he thinks it's the right thing to do on the merits, with his famous pen and phone. What's less clear is if the merits are his top priority.

Ok, if “we” conservatives are going to get blamed for it, then why not just do it? But there is an easier way, just stop funding him...that can be done this afternoon, not “maybe” a year from now.

It’s the Democratic Party that needs to get him off the stage. He may survive, but will they?

They’re skeered that their base won’t bother to show up this November.

This is the only way to rally them.

“What? The right wing racists are going to impeach our beloved first black president? Get out the vote! Vote often!”

I think what they are scared about is there has been a rapid fall off of Obama support within the party since the curtain rose on his second term and they got to see the dope in all his glory unglossed. They are positioning their run for 16 and actually doing a fair job on holding the status quo IMO in the interim.

A few (very few) dems I know have been contantly whining about how they should have gone for Hitlery in 08 so it shows they are still nothing but brain dead as there is not a hairs difference in competency between the two except in their regard for marxism. Frankly had Hitlery been in the White house since 09, they would have turned on her by now too.

They are hoping to convince the middle ground between the two parties IMO. The Party is using this impeachment talk to keep alive the myth the right is destroying this country by not going along with the dem agenda by fighting his majesty on every issue. (truth be known, RINOs go along too much not too little). With Congressional approval in the tank due to the drone of the MSM “they are not getting anything done”, it is a powerful message and one that should not be over looked by a complacent party who feels they are dead certain to take both houses. It is not dead certain and in fact if they keep the image they are nothing more than flotsom moving with the political tide, they are going to get washed out to sea.

Anyway, it is far too late to impeach the bastard anyway as such a move now will be positioned as purely political and Bonehead would not have to worry about being the speaker of the next Congress.

Dear Nancy —

Anyone who achieves the title of Speaker of the House and then tells the American people that “we have to pass the bill so you can find out what’s in it” should never again be taken seriously about anything.

So please just STFU. You really seem more and more like the Mad Queen of Hearts every day. Sincerely,
Maceman

It's simple - nothing gins up public support for Obama more than an attack (real or perceived) on him personally, as opposed to policy disagreements. Indeed, on the latter, there's hardly any policy positions the Obama administration is putting forward that even has a plurality of support, let alone majority, and his own approve/disapprove number is underwater.

But when the target is Obama himself? Well, the same reasons people voted for him in the first place, despite knowing his complete failure to have any qualifications and policy positions at odds with most of America, kick in. He's "historic" and is a way for the public at large to pay penance for whatever racial sins they or their ancestors may (or may not) have committed. To admit that Obama is a complete and utter failure and disaster ruins that image, and so Obama the individual has to be defended even if the Obama administration requires critique.

Now, say what you like about the intelligence of the average Democrat politician (and I have), there's one thing they're good at: manipulating public perception. They know the above is true about Obama, so when their backs are against the wall, when not even hue and cry of a fictitious "war on women" is sticking, their final trump card is to claim that Obama is under attack from the GOP. Even if they have to make up the attack themselves.

Impeachment would actually give Republicans a reason to vote. He is no Bill Clinton.

I thinks this story is being put out by the WH for none of the reasons listed here, or anywhere for that matter.

I think the story is to inoculate Obama FROM impeachment in the near future.

Given recent history, he is going to do something much more dramatic than he has ever done, perhaps mass amnesty, or something even bigger. This story will have drained a lot of the impeachment poison from the political system, making it harder to gin up support for removing him even after his dramatic betrayal of his powers.

Obama and the Dems are losing the Black Vote. This is their way to get blacks back in the stable by saying the evil honkys are going after a Brother.

Everybody, including freepers seem to forget Governor Palin calling for impeachment. That is why they are afraid.

An impeachment fight might get out the vote for the spineless republicants. Right now there is no reason to believe the cretins will do anything to slow Obama's destruction.

WISHING ON A STAR FOR IMPEACHMENT Senior Obama Adviser Dan Pfeiffer told reporters at a CSM breakfast that it's possible that Obama could be impeached by the Republican-controlled House....b/c Boehner's lawsuit "opened the door" to impeachment. Obama Press Secretary Josh Earnest was coached to say "prominent voices in the Republican party" have called for impeachment, but he was hard-pressed to name one other than Sarah Palin.

ROTFLOL---Desperate Dummycrats are resurrecting the impeachment bugaboo to raise shady money.....actually raising monies for impeachment from diehard Obama suckups.

This gambit----and Obama's obsessive non-stop fund raising----is beginning to look sinister. The world smolders but the Dumbcrat ding-a-lings are wishing on a star for impeachment.

REALITY CHECK Could this be a WH/Democrat Ponzi scheme in progress?

While they bash Wall Street publicly, leaders of the Democrats' mega-funder "The Democracy Alliance" have quietly recruited venture capitalists, bankers and hedge fund moguls -- along with union bosses and red-diaper trust fund babies -- to fund their takeover goals. ....$230,000 public school union dues go to the Democrats' "Democracy Alliance."

"The Democracy Alliance" does not itself raise and spend a great deal of money. Rather, being a partner in the Alliance requires one to contribute large amounts to other left-wing groups. The Alliance evaluates left-wing organizations on various criteria, and makes recommendations to its members as to where they should put their money. Currently, the Alliance lists 21 groups in its “Aligned Network”:

<><> America Votes, American Constitution Society, Black Civic Engagement Fund, Brennan Center, Catalyst, Center for American Progress, Center for Community Change, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Common Purpose Project, Fund for the Republic, Latino Engagement Fund, Media Matters for America, New Media Ventures, New Organizing Institute, Organizing For Action, Progressive Majority, Progress Now, State Engagement Initiative, State Voices, Women’s Equality Center and Youth Engagement Fund.<><>

The most interesting of the D/A documents that have come to light is the one that contains D/A’s “investment recommendations” for 2014. Not only does it list the recommended organizations, but it rates each organization in several categories, sets out the group’s budget for 2014, and shows how much of that budget should be contributed by the 100 members of the "Democracy Alliance." One category in which DA rates the organizations is “Collaboration,” as DA believes that all left-wing groups should coordinate their activities for maximum political impact.

Opportunistic pols like Harry Reid have denounced Charles and David Koch, and others, who contribute to conservative causes as “shadowy,” “secretive” people who dare infest politics with “dark money.”

In that context, it is worth noting that most of the groups to which the Alliance and its elite liberal members contribute are 501(c)(4)s that do not disclose their donors.

===============================================

ANALYSIS Buncha sap-happy Dummy/dopes are feeding the Democrats' Democracy Alliance lotsa money---thinking its safe.....going to a "good thing."

That's exactly how Madoff operated. Money-laundering, tax evasion was part of the Madoff mix---helping investors, foundations, and tax-exempts break the law in a seemingly legal way.

=====================================================

Madoff helped himself to the untraceable money in the process.....and got himself in trouble. When he went to jail for 125 years, investigators found Ponzi King Madoff had stashed billions offshore---into a labyrinth of financial entities.

COLLUSION AND CONSPIRACIES GALORE Some $8.9 billion was funneled to Madoff through a dozen so-called feeder funds based in Europe, the Caribbean and Central America......a labyrinth of hedge funds, management companies and service providers that, to unsuspecting outsiders, seemed to compose a formidable system of checks and balances.

But the purpose of this complex financial architecture was just the opposite: the feeder funds provided different modes for directing money to Madoff in order to avoid scrutiny.

Dummycrats apparently took notes.

Accused Fraudster Stanford Partied With Pelosi, Bill Clinton
ABC News ^ | February 18, 2009 | Justin Rood and Brian Ross / FR Posted by Zakeet

Accused con man R. Allen Stanford used corporate money to become a big man at last year's Democratic convention in Denver. A video posted on the firm's web-site shows Stanford, now sought by U.S. Marshals, being hugged by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and praised by former President Bill Clinton for helping to finance a convention-related forum and party put on by the National Democratic Institute.

"I would like to thank the Stanford Financial Group for helping to underwrite this," Clinton said to the crowd at the event. Stanford Financial was listed as the "lead benefactor" for the gathering, and Stanford was permitted to address the audience of several hundred.

The SEC charged yesterday that Stanford was running a fraudulent offshore investment scheme that may have bilked customers out of as much as $8 billion. Over the last decade, Stanford has spent more than $7 million on lobbyists and campaign contributions to Washington politics in both parties, although the vast majority of the money has gone to Democrats.

"We had no reason to believe that a very public company that was also engaged in philanthropic work might be suspect," said a spokesperson for the National Democratic Institute, Amy Dudley. (Excerpt) Read more at abcnews.go.com ...

REFERENCE VP Biden's son Hunter Biden was previously a top official at Stanford's PARADIGM Global Advisors, a hedge-fund holding company founded with Vice President Biden’s brother, James, and marketed by convicted finance fraudster Allen Stanford.

As Paradigm chairman, Hunter Biden oversaw half a billion dollars of client money invested in hedge funds while remaining a lobbyist. Cooper chipped in $2 million for the ill-fated venture, which went down in flames amid nasty fraud lawsuits." (NOTE Stanford is now in jail but the Biden's got off scot-free.)

"Hi there, Americans. Obama put me in charge of the trillion dollar stimulus.
My son and brother are gonna help me disperse the money. "

Offshore Fraudster had links to offshore fund run by VP Biden's relatives
Reuters on Yahoo | 2/23/09 | BY Ajay Kamalakaran

(Reuters) – A fund of offshore hedge funds run by two members of VP Joe Biden's family was marketed exclusively by offshore firms controlled by Texas financier Allen Stanford, charged by regulators with an $8 billion fraud, the Wall Street Journal said.

The Bidens $50 million fund was jointly branded between the Bidens' Paradigm Global Advisors LLC and the offshore Stanford Financial Group entity headquartered in Antigua, and was known as the Paradigm Stanford Capital Management Core Alternative Fund, the paper said. Stanford-related offshore companies marketed the Biden fund to investors and also invested about $2.7 million of their own money in the fund, the paper said, citing a lawyer for Paradigm.

Paradigm Global Advisors is owned through a holding company by the vice president Biden's son, Hunter, and Joe Biden's brother, James, according to the WSJ. Paradigm's attorney, Marc LoPresti, who represents Hunter Biden and James Biden, as well as Paradigm, told the paper he did not know which Stanford entity invested the roughly $2.7 million. NOTE A lawyer for Hunter Biden and James Biden told reporters the Bidens NEVER met or communicated with Stanford. (/snicker)
