The House on Wednesday passed a resolution to condemn the extremist group Hamas for its recent rocket attacks against Israel.
The measure, passed by voice vote, specifically denounces Hamas's use of civilians as "human shields" during combat.
"Hamas is engaging in a crime of enormous proportions, perpetrated by those who are deliberately hiding among civilians to protect themselves," said House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-Calif.). "The world can't let terrorists embed their forces among the civilian population, using them as human shields, without speaking out."
It also expresses support for Israel to defend itself against Hamas, as well as Palestinians who do not support Hamas or violence. Lawmakers said the resolution would affirm U.S. support for Israel, especially amid a United Nations Human Rights Council report stating that Israel committed human rights violations against the Palestinians.
"The United States is the only one true friend that Israel has," said Rep. Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.), the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. "We must always stands up for Israel's security and we must state plainly that Israel is not alone."
The measure further slams Hamas for its refusal to agree on a cease-fire with Israel.
Passage of the resolution comes as fighting between Hamas and Israel is now in its third week. The two sides struggled to agree on a cease-fire over the weekend.
Obama / Kerry and the UN can't even mention Hamas without issuing some attack on Israel in the same breath!
Uh-oh. More harsh language. What will Hamas ever do? What will they do?
And PIAPS says that its okay for Hamas to use schools are rocket firebases — because Gaza is such a small place.
Boehner ought to have forced a recorded vote. Most of the Rats would probably abstain.
Good, let’s see Reid and Obama refuse to condemn the rocket attacks.
Was it unanimous. The blog does not say.
The MSM will probably call this “controversial”
Tut-tut...he wouldn't want his friends across the aisle held accountable for their 'pro-Hamas' vote.
For better or worse Bibi has ended the 2 State peace solution. What next?
Has the State Department thought of an hash tag yet? It's not serious tragedy until you can crystallize your outrage with a hashtag.
Times of Israel in their live blog says it passed by unanimous consent.

Reid won’t bring it to a vote.
Well, that will solve that problem — what’s next to remedy with a resolution? To be fair, they are at least making their position known, as has Obama (side with the Muslims).
