SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - It's still unclear where more than 1,000 immigrant children are living in Georgia after crossing the Mexican border. Over the last six months, the Office of Refuge and Resettlement announced they sent these children to live with families or sponsors in Georgia, but we don't know exactly where they are.
School systems in Georgia are wondering if these children will be enrolling in school.
Officials at the Board of Education said they don't know if they'll be getting any of these immigrant children, but by law all public schools in Georgia are required to have specially trained teachers to help immigrant children.
"We assess if the child has any language needs with an English proficiency test and we get that child settled in the classroom," Georgiana Darsey with the Federal Programs Director for Bulloch County Schools said.
Public school systems like Bulloch County are always prepared for new immigrant students. It's federal law for schools to have plans in place to accommodate their specific needs.
Bulloch County has eight what they call "ESOL" teachers, which is English for Speakers of Other Languages. The teachers will create specific learning plans depending on the child's needs.
"So they can get more individualized attention for their very focused language time," Darsey said.
The federal government awards money to counties that see an increase in their immigrant population. Bulloch County schools have about 79 immigrant students, should they get more this year, Darsey said they'll get more money.
"Those are used for the classroom teachers to purchase resources to help those students become a cultured to our country and area," she said.
Officials said they may not know until the first day of school if they are receiving any more immigrant children, but it they do, they said they're ready.
"It's our job to make them feel comfortable and to reassure them that they are in a safe environment and that we have their best interest at heart," Darsey said.
Better pull your children out before they get exposed to a third world disease.
Pay up homeowner/taxpayers.
Bammie’s bringing the third world here for you to support.
Back to work ya’ll
REFERENCE Violent transnational gangs 'recruiting unaccompanied minors at Border Security facilities'
Daily Mail UK ^ | July 27, 2014 | Daily Mail / FR Posted by COUNTrecount
Members of some of the United States' most notorious street gangs have infiltrated shelters housing illegal immigrant minors from Central America and are recruiting them, say Homeland Security sources. An estimated 57,000 minors from Central America have flooded across the border from Mexico to the U.S. in recent months, and gang leaders are reportedly filling their ranks from among them.
Transnational gangs such as the Mara Salvatruca, also known as MS-13, and the 18th Street gang are using established juvenile members from Central America to cross the border and recruit other children to the cartels, say sources. Recruiting drive:
There are reports that gangs are trying to recruit young immigrants from Border Protection facilities where they're being held According to Fox News, Border Control agents have witnessed gang members using a Red Cross phone bank at the facility at Nogales, Arizona, to 'recruit, enlist and pressure' other minors into crossing the border. Shawn Moran, vice president of the National Border Control Patrol Council, a union which represents border agents, says agents have witnessed the recruiting process.
The Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement said earlier this week that they have no knowledge or evidence that gangs are recruiting immigrant minors. (Excerpt) Read more at dailymail.co.uk ...
There were interesting exchanges on this topic at yesterday's House hearing on immigration.
<><> Patriot Cong Randy Forbes said Americans need to know if violent gang members are walking their streets. Forbes asked UCIS--a DHS agency--headed by Obama appointee Leon Rodrigues---whether the agency asked applicants whether they are gang members---and when they invariably reply no, how does the agency know whether it's true or not?
Rodriguez would not reveal information---Forbes insisted on knowing "do you even ask them if they're gang members."
<><> Even more interesting was watching brilliant Cong Louie Gohmert (Rep-Tx) set the trap for the oily Rodriguez. Gohmert--- the former judge's brilliant circumlocution was awesome. He nailed the mealy-mouth Gonzalez to the wall.
GOHMERT: WRT drug cartels paid $6000 to "guide" the hordes over the birder---"Would you, as a former prosecutor, call them criminals?," he nonchalantly asked Gonzales.
Gonzales stepped into the trap as Cong Gohmert casually hoisted him on his own petard. Making the point that if the hordes were coming here to escape drug cartels, why is it they pay the violent breed to get over the border?
REFERENCE Comments on the C-span hearing rebroadcast of yesterday's House hearing on border immigration.
Obama appointee, UCIS head, Leon Gonzales was interviewed. Totally biased---said his second language was Spanish----and that he once belonged to Casa Manana (or something), that was advocating for unlimited immigration.
The lock-stepping Gonzalez gets grade A for Evasion and for loyally following orders from the Commandant in the WH.
When Democrats questioned him, he knew everything and responded in great detail. But to Republicans he whined about being new to the jobs---and parroted "gotta get back to you on that."
Repub Cong/men Jason Chaffetz, Louis Gohmert and Randy Forbes were standout patriots, protecting Americans from the invading hordes at the border.
Cong Gohmert stopped the show with his probing judicial-like queries---the former judge's brilliant circumlocution, and his prodigious knowledge of the law was awesome---as well as his ability to nail Gonzalez to the wall.
WRT drug cartels paid $6000 to "guide" the hordes over the birder---"Would you call them criminals?," he asked Gonzales. Making the point that if the hordes were coming here to escape drug cartels, why is it they pay the violent breed to get over the border?
Gonzales made a show of his legal bgrnd---but he paled agaimst Goehmert's expertise. Gonzales, as a former prosecutor and officer of the court, should know that the US justice system is not amenable to dispensing justice to litigants w/ "unclean hands"---a legal term meaning those who have committed crimes. His license to practice law should be pulled.
Sad to see Cong Jason Chaffetz's resignation, knowing we'd get nowhere with the lock-stepping Gonsalez----prostrate in obeisance to Obama---his lips pressed firmly to the WH behind.
Cong Guttierez (Dim-Ill) made a lamebrain appearance--- this imbecile had to have used voter fraud to get into office---no one in their right mind would vote for the Spanglish-speaking moron.
We need to find out (1) how many identities he's using, (2) how many govt checks he, his family, and his staff are cashing, and, (3) Guttierez's membership in violent organizations advocating the overthrow of the US govt.
We are so pi$$ed off about this we cannot see straight.
He knew illegals were coming for MONTHS and has put nothing in place to protect OUR children from exposure—in my mind, he's complicit and I told the woman at his office that there would be a backlash against him when their little dear ones start returning home with scabies, bacterial pneumonia, tuberculosis and lice!
Those petri-dishes of contagion need to be quarantined!!!
Don’t get pi$$ed off just vote down every bond that comes along. If property owners say no more tax dollars for schools Obame can send a check.
Good luck Georgia!
My sister teaches school in northern CA. She has two Spanish-speaking assistants because half the class can’t speak English. So as you can imagine, it makes things a little difficult for the Americans.
(Did I wish you buenas suerte?)
Since when did we have a - Office of Refuge and Resettlement?
“”The federal government awards money to counties that see an increase in their immigrant population. Bulloch County schools have about 79 immigrant students, should they get more this year, Darsey said they’ll get more money.””
“Those are used for the classroom teachers to purchase resources to help those students become a cultured to our country and area,” she said””
Money - that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? What happened to “IT’S FOR THE CHILDREN”???? Just not OUR children, is that right?
~~STUDENTS BECOME A CULTURED TO OUR COUNTRY~~??????? This woman is in education or just a government hack who pushes paper to get that increased funding???
Why aren’t all the governors of the states converging on the WH and getting answers? They should all have been in DC weeks/months ago pounding on doors at congressional offices.
School starts next week in Gwinnett County - possibly statewide - and it will be interesting to see what shakes out with kids not speaking English. I have read that these “kids” are not proficient in their own language either. Since they are “mere children”, they wouldn’t even be able to answer the question - “What language do you speak?”
It’s disgusting to listen to the news and to the information they report they are getting from these kids. Who are they kidding - no pun intended!!!! “What country did you come from?” Blank stare!
Kasim Reed said this morning on the radio, about 1000 were here in Atlanta.
“Since when did we have a - Office of Refuge and Resettlement?”
I’ve tried finding an answer to that very question. I have just about given up.... There’s no problem finding articles on agencies that are making beaucoup bucks from this boondoggle!! It truly is mind boggling the money involved.
I may have gotten the below link originally from FR but it’s pretty interesting. This is Gainesville, GA and a link in the article leads you to the letter Gov. Deal wrote to obozo days ago....
According to the “activist” Bautista quoted in the article, he thinks this is just great for Gainesville BUT most of the “immigrants” in Gainesville are Mexican so these kids definitely aren’t going to family members as we’ve been led (lied to) to believe!
“It’s our job to make them feel comfortable and to reassure them that they are in a safe environment and that we have their best interest at heart,” Darsey said.
regards of how unsafe and uncomfortable the America citizen students will be eh ???
Who cares about them ???
You don’t have to have their “best interest at heart,”
Mine have already caught head lice infestations from California public schools. I get 'em treated. They get it again. And again. And again. The health department--after I forced them to abandon burocratese and be honest--finally admitted that they have no plan for eradication of the problem.
Bed bugs already infest hotels, motels, movie theaters, buses.
Look for leprosy, typhoid, cholera, bubonic plague, other Third World diseases to appear in America.
There was a time when such things were unheard of in the U.S.A. That was before America sank into the quicksand of decadence.
What's really going to be bad is when smallpox makes its reappearance in this unvaccinated population.
My main concern for the next school year is TB. I do not believe my county has had any of the illegals shipped in, and I know our county commissioner has been very vocal in the media about fighting it — but, hey, we all know that His Lordship, the High and Mighty Oval Office Squatter does whatever he wants without much heed to anyone’s protest.
Whew, that's a relief! Oh... wait a minute... She wasn't talking to the children of TAX-PAYING AMERICAN CITIZENS, was she??? Nope. It's the freakin' ILLEGALS she's more concerned about!!!
Umm, isn’t this a violation of state law??
