A feud is unfolding over whether Dayton should take in immigrant children from Central America who have been crossing the border by the tens of thousands in recent months.
Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley is facing off against Congressman Mike Turner and local politicians. The Democratic Whaley says the numbers of young children coming into the U.S. alone from central America constitute a humanitarian crisis.
When the federal government contacted her in early July about potentially housing some of them temporarily, she saidof course.
These are children, and they need to be treated humanely while theyre on American soil and while we go through the due process with them, Whaley says.
But a group of Republicans including U.S. Representative Mike Turner has penned a letter to President Barack Obama. It says Mayor Whaley doesnt represent the region.
Beavercreek Mayor Brian Jarvis signed on.
Were a nation of immigrants, however this has now jumped that line clearly into illegal immigrants.
Jarvis and others say the region cant afford to provide for the kids, even temporarily.
Congressman Turner, who represents Dayton and Wright-Patterson Air Force base put out a release saying Mayor Whaley does not have the authority, the resources or the support to speak on behalf of Dayton and the surrounding communities.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says its shelters are overcrowded, and its offering funds for organizations who open up space.
Catholic Charities in Cincinnati has applied for a grant.
Dayton. A great old Ohio American town turned into an unlivable urban hellhole by the Democrats.
I’m guessing this is not Dayton, TN.

I wish we didn’t have have so much attention whoring from politicians desperate to get their names in the news for donations. I wonder how much different our country would be run if politicians weren’t allowed to receive donations...

“Humanitarian crisis” my @$$. If there was a “humanitarian crisis” was actually going on, why isn’t Mexico and the other Central American countries coming to rescue their fellow Hispanics? Hmmmm? This is a frickin’ freeloader invasion orchestrated by Barry and his ‘RAT comrades. Anyone who believes otherwise is a moron.
Just the facts:
Since Jan 2014 to present, the unemployment rate has fallen from 7.1% to 5.4%
There has been over 200,000 jobs added.
The City income tax revenue has FALLEN $2.4M.
Wonder what that means? Could it be lower paying jobs?
P.S. School levies have a 45% chance of passing in this area.
Dayton, Ohio. I live in Beavercreek (east of Dayton). Whaley is one of the biggest dingbats in any government in this area. There are whole sections in west Dayton where you just don’t go into. Friend of mine lost his son over there.
In other local news the feds just successfully threatened to withhold highway funds from Beavercreek because Dayton wanted to export their problems here by running a bus line to our local mall. Part of the Obama plan to destroy the burbs.
Hey Ohio, don’t feel bad. South Carolina Governor got assurance from HHS that they would not store any of the criminal aliens in SC. A week later they crammed 350 of them down our throats with no notice, no info about where they are being kept, etc.
Welcome to the USA, newest turd world country on the planet.
she must be feeling the SE Ohio conservative movement knocking on her door. a few years back West Chester was vacant land, now its all the landing for all of the flight out of Cincinnati.
These are children, and they need to be treated humanely........”
While I agree with the statement at least partially, giving the kids a bath, something to eat and a “return trip” ticket back to their homes would be the appropriate thing to do.
Wait til Mayor Wail-ey finds out these “children” are 21+ yrs old.
