International investigators have finally reached the MH17 crash site today after Ukraine agreed to a 24 hour ceasefire so they could gain access to the area.
It is the first time that the experts from the Netherlands and Australia have been able to go to the site, which appears to still be under control of pro-Russian separatists.
Fighting along the route to the wreckage between government troops and the separatists had kept them away.
It is expected that they will initially focus their efforts on retrieving bodies that are still on the site and collect victims' belongings.
It remains unclear exactly how many bodies remain and what condition they are in after being exposed for so long to the elements.
The two countries have also carried out a joint training exercise in case they need to evacuate personnel involved in the humaitarian mission in the Ukraine.
A delegation from Russia's state aviation body also said it hoped to visit the site, an agency spokesman said today....
Military spokesman Olekisy Dmytrashkivsky said that the move was in response to an appeal by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, adding: 'We have taken a decision not to conduct military operations on this so-called "day of quiet."'

Explosions Heard Around MH17 Site As Investigators Finally Arrive

Yesterday, pro Russian separatists reportedly laid mines around the area of the crash, further preventing investigation efforts.
After the rescuers arrived today, new explosions were allegedly heard near the crash site. One reporter in the area reported a “powerful” blast, and noted smoke about six miles from the MH17 site.
Was that the Landmine Disposal Unit at work???
Those “bodies” are “body parts” and most likely decomposed by now.
There could be up to 80 bodies still at MH17 crash site in Ukraine, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop tells CNN.
I'm not surprised. One reporter found a large piece of wreckage in the woods one day. Apparently he was the first on the scene.

But this report isn’t coming from Kiev.
This report is coming from those on the ground at the Russian SAM11 Missile Testing Site there.
I don’t know why. There’s nothing left to investigate. Anything of informative value has been taken away.
More Reports from the site
[T]he investigators were allowed early Thursday afternoon through a checkpoint leading to the crash site at the village of Rozsypne by a rifle-toting militiaman who then fired a warning shot to prevent reporters from accompanying the convoy.
The militiaman, who gave his name only as Sergei, said there was still fighting happening in Rozsypne as the Ukrainian army continues an offensive to take back swatches of territory from the rebels.

I guess Sergei didn’t get the report — or did he???
