Inhofe urges military aid for Ukraine

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe on Wednesday urged President Barack Obama to provide "lethal assistance" to Ukraine as it confronts Russian-backed insurgents.

“While Russia is committing an act of war by firing rockets and heavy artillery into Ukraine, the Obama Administration continues to sit idly by, assessing a very obvious crisis," Inhofe said in a written statement.

"(Russia) is sending tanks, artillery, and rocket launchers to pro-Russian separatists, while President Obama sends rations, body armor and sleeping bags to our Ukrainian partners. No wonder the Ukrainians feel abandoned and Putin feels he has the upper hand in the fight.

Inhofe said Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to "de-Reaganize" eastern Europe.

“American assistance is vital to ... Eastern Europe, yet it has been unreliable and embarrassingly slow under the Obama Administration. I urge President Obama to adhere to the bipartisan consensus that we should be providing Ukraine with lethal assistance, such as small arms, ammunition and anti-tank weapons, immediately.”

This is an "attractive distractor" for DC pols who don't want to face the problems the US faces at home. Instead, they'll get us involved somewhere else that isn't our business.

How about at home? A whole lot of Mexicans think the SW is theirs, treaties and all that. Mexico isn't just invading the US with its drug cartels and underclass, now it's assisting hordes from Central America to enter the US illegally.

So how about deal with OUR problem? Providing armed troops on our southern border would be very nice. Even nicesr would be an enforced ten mile wide DMZ....the northernmost part of Mexico.

Let someone in their neighborhood figure it out with Russia.

Inhofe: Illegal minors in Oklahoma ‘at the invitation of the president’ - July 24, 2014 - “These kids were here in this country at the invitation of the president,” Mr. Inhofe said. “I think everyone knows it. Nobody says it.

Yeah, my heart goes out to the Ukranians and if I could magically give them a million M1 Garands, 50,000 baazookas and 5000 Sherman “Jumbo/Easy 8” tanks, I would do so. However, we need to work on our own defense at the border as you pointed out. We can’t help others if we are bleeding to death, in which we are, especially so with the current occupant of the White Hut.

Well since it’s clear that this President and this Congress are not going to do anything to protect our borders, then perhaps the least we can do is help the people of Ukraine defend theirs.

Seemingly, Russia and China sense US weakness and aim to expand their spheres of influence in their respective regions. Release Germany and Japan from the NPT and their post WWII military restrictions. Attitude adjustments are sure to follow.
