THE family of a teenager murdered while walking her dog on a nature trail believe she may have known her killer.
Police said Michigan schoolgirl April Millsap, 14, texted her boyfriend “OMG ... I think I’m being kidnapped” to her boyfriend just before her death.
A couple walking the well-known Macomb Nature Trail in Armada, just north of Detroit, found April’s body last Thursday night. Her dog Penny was standing guard.
It later emerged the dog had repeatedly approached other hikers before successfully leading the couple to her body.

It’s fairly normal to start to interact with the opposite sex at around that age. It doesn’t mean they being sexual.
A boyfriend or girlfriend at that age would be closer to being define as a coffee-friend, somebody you just hang around and basically talk. It doesn’t mean they are creating the “beast with two backs”, as Futurama would put it.
They also do it because if the killer is still in the area, they don’t want him to flee when he realizes just how close they might be to a arrest. They also don’t want to risk contaminating the case by making statements that could be used by the defense to create reasonable doubt.
Did the police shoot the dog?
All they’ll say is she wasn’t shot or stabbed. The joggers who found her had passed by the area shortly before and the dog barked at them. It was a two hour time span.
