A grieving Bronx family is stunned that the teen accused of sucker-punching their father and husband is being charged with a misdemeanor that could result in the suspect doing less than a year in jail.
Ildefonso Romero Jr. died days after a teenage boy allegedly sucker-punched him outside his home on Thieriot Avenue in Soundview on June 21. Witnesses said Romero had been protecting a girl from local teens who were apparently causing trouble in the street, and one of the teens punched Romero.
Romero fell and hit his head on the curb, and his son found him unconscious on the ground.

Well that scenario is certainly plausible. That said, you are still alive which is a good deal better than to have died at the hands of black thugs. The other thing that decent people need to do is train themselves to be “situationally aware,” and to not go where black on white crime exists. Don’t travel alone except when absolutely necessary, and don’t go to the gas station in the bad neighborhood, or the convenience store, because you are just asking for trouble. And FWIW, the mere “pulling” of your weapon is very likely to sent your would be attackers heading in another direction immediately
There are so many cases like this it begs the question as to why there isn’t more vigilante justice going on.
Several well-publicized cases of citizens shooting some of these punks would do wonders to deter more attacks. But liberals do their best (or worst if you like) to make sure innocent citizens do not have guns or be able to arm themselves. Hopefully, these assaults by the feral punks will force things to change.
We had a white guy here in Houston pull that crap on an 79 year old black man while filming it on his cell phone.
He’s now claiming insanity.
He should be charged with every possible indictment and removed from society. He should be forced to pay costs for the injuries inflicted on his victim.
As for his insanity plea ? So f’n what ? Who gives a rat’s rear end ? It’s a scam and immaterial.
It’s unfortunate he wasn’t spotted by a concealed carrier, who could have shot his sorry ass and permanently removed him from society. As one talk show host here called it - “permanent rehabilitation.”

Romero sounds more Italian than Hispanic to me.
Possibly; another poster had made a reference to a black-on-white crime, and I thought there may have been another victim group involved.
His daughter’s name is Jennifer Perez, and his wife’s name is Jenny Guevarez; I didn’t figure there were too many Italians left in the Bronx.

Thanks; the last name could have gone either way, though. To their credit, Italians are among the last to flee from the ghettoization of their neighborhoods. They’ll fight for it.
That’s true. Never thought of it before. THO, there is a certain breed of New Yorker, regardless of ethnicity or even gender, who will NOT leave the old neighborhood, even if the old neighborhood as such no longer exists. They know where their church is, the butcher (if he’s still around), the drug store (if the pharmacist is still around), etc. They know the subway and bus lines to get them where they want to go. They just WON’T leave.
Yes, and some of them (especially the elderly) pay a huge price for that in terms of crime. I sympathize with them; they want to stay in an area where they don’t need cars and know people.
