This was one of the national monuments that Bill Clinton put in place during the last month of his presidency - I am sure the people and animals in this area are glad Clinton was there - after all, he was the one that kicked out the nasty loggers and ranchers who used to take care of the land - now it is putting up a smoke column 15,000’ in the air - but don’t worry - it’s OK, the land is in a national monument - everything will be fine - as if the federal policy was some sort of nirvana...

Well, judging from what I’ve seen of Pine Forests in Central Oregon lately, the trees were as good as dead from bark beetles anyway. Fire just sped up the process.
Good old BLM, never met a forest they couldn’t mismanage.
