The arrogance is breathtaking. It’s like these people think they’re gods.
U.S. District Judge Loretta A. Preska ruled from the bench ... it was a question of who controlled the data rather than where it was stored.
So if the clear wording of the Constitution gets in the way, just make something up (doesn't matter what) to justify getting around it! This judge is insane ...
Good for Microsoft to fight this battle!
Microsoft deserves praise for standing up against the US Federal Gov’t!
Why isn’t Apple and Google joining in to protect privacy?
“hristopher Soghoian...said in a statement afterward that the ruling was “a major blow not just for Microsoft, but for the entire U.S. cloud computing industry.”
Anything that takes away from “the cloud” is a WINNER in my book. I like the cloud almost as much as I like Windows 8...which is not very much, to say the least.
They can issue a warrant, let’s see if anyone in Ireland cares
Borders?
We don’t need no stinkin’ borders...
Skynet, meet The Cloud.
How is this done for physical evidence? If I keep papers or some OJ style bloody gloves in Ireland what are the procedures for getting a warrant to get them? Would Irish officials obey them or just ignore them?
Yet another reason foreigners will have for not using American companies. Good job FedGov!
