Obama executive order allows detention of Americans with respiratory diseases

On Thursday, Barack Obama signed an executive order that allows for the apprehension, detention, or conditional release of individuals with certain severe acute respiratory diseases, not including influenza. The executive order modifies one signed in 2003 by George Bush that allowed for the detention and quarantine of those with SARS.

"Severe acute respiratory syndromes, which are diseases that are associated with fever and signs and symptoms of pneumonia or other respiratory illness, are capable of being transmitted from person to person, and that either are causing, or have the potential to cause, a pandemic, or, upon infection, are highly likely to cause mortality or serious morbidity if not properly controlled,"...

So am I reading this correct that if you are an American and sick, you can be quarantined but if you are illegal, come on in, we will let you walk the streets?

Maybe I'm being overly dramatic, but isn't this news worth a little more attention than its getting in the MSM?

Especially in view of Obama's threatened unilateral action on the border?

A quarantine is not a voluntary thing you can decide about. So, yeah, I guess hypothetically US citizens could be locked up in an emergency ward while hordes from all over the world with who-knows-what diseases get no resistance from invading the US.

The state of California just arrested a illegal who tested positive for multi-drug resistant TB because he refused to follow his treatment regimen. Also given the ongoing Ebola outbreak that is still expanding with the CDC telling the public to not worry but medical folks are quietly saying that it could spread to this country via air travel.

Which medical folks are you referring to?

Well as long as they're keeping it quiet.

Worse than that.

It's giving Obama the power to punish any citizen who publicizes the fact that they have come down with a disease communicated by illegal aliens with an indefinite quarantine that uses public heath provisions for epidemics that suspends many constitutional rights to those under quarantine

The scumbags in the White House never miss a trick

Like the special briefcase containing the nuclear launch codes, carried near the president, I hope there is another nearby “25th Amendment briefcase” containing the presidential straitjacket when it becomes evident to even the demonicrat sycophants around him that Traitorobama has taken that final flying leap off the edge of reality.

This detention for Public Health has been on the books for a long time, but to go active, it must have an executive order which must specify what disease(s).

Here are the answers to a lot of questions. This is a CDC summary of including a novel type of influenza to the executive order list. It would be almost unchanged by adding ebola to the list.

http://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/qa-executive-order-pandemic-list-quarantinable-diseases.html

So, bizarrely enough, Obama may actually be following the law this time. It had to happen once during his presidency, I suppose.

Obama is just using Bush' tactic. Now look who is in office ready to use them.

President Bush said yesterday that he would consider using the military to "effect a quarantine" in the event of an outbreak

It would be a shame if Obama contracted Ebola and had to be detained.

But then, it doesn't sound as if the law applies to illegals so he would probably be safe.

I wonder how many conservative members of Congress, the Federal courts, and other alleys of government suffer from respiratory ailments? They may have to be quarantined and checked out sometime in the future, otherwise how can you be sure they are not infectious? Now someone like that near dead, wheezing hag Ginsburg,... well I am sure she will get a pass.

This just may be Obama’s power play. We had better watch this one closely because the bastard tried to take advantage of the swine flu in Mexico by refusing to close the border, and now this comes along just as he is allowing ebola victims into the country. Something is going on here. Notice that Emory University, where these sick victims are heading, is in Atlanta where the CDC just happens to be. O’bastard may be about to spring a surprise on the American public. The CDC may have found a way to weaponize ebola, and we may be the first victims of a new weapon.

“California just arrested a illegal who tested positive for multi-drug resistant TB”

I find this story extremely odd

a) he was put up in a hotel room when he could have the multi-drug resistant strain. WTH?

b) he fled in March and therefore has been on the loose potentially infecting who knows how many others for 4 months. What took so long to put out a warrant? Are there other known persons he has infected?
