An independent panel appointed by the Pentagon and Congress said Thursday that President Obamas strategy for sizing the armed services is too weak for todays global threats.
The National Defense Panel called on the president to dump a major section of his 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) and write a broader strategy that requires the military to fight on multiple fronts at once.
It also said the shrinking U.S. armed forces, which are being downsized to fit that strategy and budget cuts, is a serious strategic misstep on the part of the United States. The forces numbers spelled out in Mr. Obamas QDR are inadequate given the future strategic and operational environment.
The warning comes as Mr. Obama is under criticism from many Republicans and some Democrats for his standoff policy toward Syria and his limited response to a June offensive by an al Qaeda offshoot that has gobbled up swaths of territory in Iraq....

Prez Pen and Phone is a global threat.
Well, duh. By design, no less.
If he isn’t the “enemy within” I don’t know who would be.
Orders from his excellency: Forward in Reverse, Charge.
Uriel must be quite pleased with himself!
The George Soros puppet’s fundamental transformation of America is almost complete.
He is the enemy within. An incompetent within is worse than an enemy without.
The biggest threat to this country is our open borders and the hordes of illegal aliens here. And the military is not protecting our borders.
It’s working out just as he planned it.
Congress decides the size and scope of the military.
Obama’s response will be, “it a start” and then he will cut it more.
It’s now the Kenyan’s “fundamentally transformed” military. Swish!
Of course, we’ve known this to be true. I had been wondering when it was going to finally be written about and discussed.
So nice to show another weak link to make our enemies feel even more powerful under this sissy-pants administration.
They determine funding, but ask me when they ever bothered really opposing what the POTUS does with the military.
that’s the whole idea, the fraud will do anything that will help to expedite the fall of America
Didn’t Obama promise a “domestic” force equal in size to the military? And didn’t Homeland Security purchase shocking amounts of ammo?
What Good Can a Handgun Do Against An Army?
Well, duh. By design, no less.
I question the idea that Obama has failed at implementing his Foreign Policy. He had a major setback in Egypt and Israel is working against him but everywhere else he is doing pretty well.
The Mideast is in turmoil.
Iran grows stronger by the day.
Radical Jihadis have taken control of large sections of Iraq.
Libya is threatened by Islamic radicals.
Al Qaeda is threatening to take control of Syria.
What’s not to like if you want the Caliphate to be reinstated, hopefully under Muslim brotherhood rule.
But still, as obvious as it may be, few understand that Obama and the democratic leadership are NWO agents.
But Reid keeps anything he doesn't like from being voted on, and there's always the veto pen. In practice, under this administration and to a degree never seen before in this country, Congress decides very little.
And so this is how he responds to the downing of MH17 and Russia’s insurgency in Ukraine —
Ok, take Reid at his word. That doesn’t change the GOP controlled congress from trying to implement anything and bring something to a vote. Have they?
I’ve heard there’s hundreds of bills that have been passed by the GOP controlled House that Reid will not even let the Senate consider. How much symbolism do you need?
Symbolism? The fact that we don’t even know the name of a bill that would prevent such downsizing. Nothing.
What I mean is that without some significant leadership on the GOP side, no one knows what they’ve done... it’s just peeing into the wind.
You’re upset we haven’t heard about some of these things. I’ll agree that’s a problem. But, without a big groundswell of public outrage, any GOP initiatives are going to be ignored.
Take the border situation, for example. Obama asked for a 3.7 billion dollar slush fund, with virtually no enforcement. The House is working on a 700 million bill which inlcudes enforcement, but is wishy-washy in some places. Obama loves this—even if the House passes something, it will be ignored by the Senate, which I hear is going into recess. He’ll say “Congress didn’t act, so I have to.” Or, the House bill will wind up in a conference with the Senate, and McCain et al will tack on a lot of amnesty provisions.
Is it any wonder I’m bummed?
The bottom line is that as a nation, we can no longer afford a military capable of policing the entire world. Our spending has been so spendthrift and gratuitous for so long that it must end for everything. And this means everything.
As far as the military goes, the reduction must be to the point where the military can only be used for things that are in our direct national interest. This means no more peacekeeping between willing belligerents; no more disaster relief; no more frivolous interventionism.
Military need, not military want.
If one foreign nation wants war with another foreign nation, and neither of them are our allies, then let the butchery commence, because it is not our problem. There is no “humanitarianism” unless somebody pays for it.
We only get a small portion of our oil from the Mideast. So if they want to slaughter each other, it is China’s dilemma because they get much of their oil from there.
We can no longer tremble at the idea of a “butterfly effect” turning a small war into a world war. We have to sit back and watch, and only intervene when it shows prospects of doing so.
Planned to allow for the muslim caliphate
Why use the word excellency?
There is nothing excellent about this move to downsize military or about Obama either.
How about the bottom of the snake pit?
It’s almost like Obama is throwing the game...
All these “Veteranos” coming into to the USA should make a dandy fighting force if needed. They have registered for the Selective Service right? Right?
Active Duty ping.
All Obama has is a big mouth. He is an agitator and corrupt as hell.
He thinks his big mouth and Alinsky tactics will work every time. It only does when people are too stupid to see that everything this administration does is built on lies and malicious activity all over the world. One of these days someone out there is going to take him to task, that means we are in trouble.
The Trojan Horse
Because if I called him exactly how I feel about him I’d be banned forever!
"And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars...."
Wars are coming, across the Middle East, perhaps to Europe and the Pacific as well. There may even be a civil war in our own nation.
The US military has been a force for good, justice, and stability for decades. Obama has been undermining its people, equipment, training, budgets, laws, morality, and very core from almost the moment he took office.
Many members of Congress, eager for any spending cuts but unable to touch sacred Entitlements, allowed the Obama attacks on the military to continue, and even enabled him to do so. Moreover, they were too timid to stop the social and moral attacks against the foundations of the military.
As the world spins out of control, the US military is less and less looking as the effective force to bring peace and stability.
Tiny Israel stands alone, and the US enables the worst of Muslim murderers.
I never thought I would see these days, but I now have.
My brother in law lives and works in Abu Dhabi, with his pregnant wife. I was told last night over dinner with his parents that he is mulling over whether or not to extend his contract for three years. I told them, with the ME burning like it is, and if ISIL is even half successful with their five year plan, he damned well won’t want to live there much longer. They said nothing at all. I don’t know if they are ignorant of what is happening over there, are just happy in their bubble, or think I am full of ——. When I last talked to my brother in law, he scoffed at the notion they could be in any danger. I reminded him he is literally only hundreds of miles from Iran, and a stone’s throw from the Strait of Hormuz. No response at all from him. Again, don’t know if they think I am an alarmist....
