Hamasís Shift to Tunnel Warfare Catches Israel by Surprise

JERUSALEM — Israel entered its latest conflict with Hamas armed with a high-tech arsenal, real-time battlefield intelligence and strong domestic support for dealing a heavy blow to Hamas.

But again on Friday, Israeli forces were taken by surprise, this time with two soldiers killed and one taken prisoner when militants once again attacked from a tunnel in Gaza.

“Hamas has changed its doctrine and is using the tunnels as a main method of operation,” said Israel Ziv, a retired general who headed the military’s Gaza division and its operations directorate. “This is something we learned amid the fighting.”

Of the 32 fortified tunnels that the Israeli military has exposed so far, at least 11 run deep beneath the border into Israeli territory. Others are part of an underground labyrinth inside Gaza connecting buildings, weapons stores and concealed rocket launchers.

I would have thought that Israel would have had intel plants in Hamas.

I am shocked that they are shocked.

But there it is.

Fortunately, we are only insignificant Freepers.

3-4000 suicide bombers emerging from these tunnels, all at once, would have caused chaos and carnage beyond rational human comprehension.

And Obama’s Muzzie Brohood advisors would likely have CHEERED it.

Aren’t we all glad so many Freepers threw temper tantrums and stayed home in 2008, and 2012?

I read that from Egypt’s side of the tunnel, they are pumping in raw sewage.

These tunnels should be detectable as they enter Israel.

Yep. And unless we find a way to exhume Ronald Reagan and breathe some life into him, they are going to stay home again and give us Hillary in 2016.

I think Israeli intel knew what was going on re: the tunnels but waited until the invasion to let the public know.

Israelis are a lot like American Jews. Very liberal until they learn of their own risk.

Bibi has told them the truth and now they are on his side.

Bibi is herding cats...a very difficult task.

Pump in pig guts and pig shyte into the Hamas tunnels. Since there are few pigs in Israel we should send them a ship with freezers to bring them tons upon tons of frozen pig guts to be defrosted and used as needed against Hamas tunnels and other Jihad operations

A holocaust is taking shape in Europe and in the U.S. thx to Obama and his muslim buddies in Europe and liberals in the U.S.

American Jews had better get with the program...or they can board a train to Auswitz.

We conservatives are here to help...but we can only help those who want it.

“Aren’t we all glad so many Freepers threw temper tantrums and stayed home in 2008, and 2012?”

And unfortunately they are talking about doing it again in 2014 and 2016.

Voting for a change in administration [against big-government, anti-Christian candidates] is more than just voting for the person running on the GOP ticket. Voting for a President includes the possibilities of changing the coarse of our political path, stimulating the private economy, appointment of constitutional judges, appointment of good cabinet secretaries, dedication to preserving and protecting the Constitution of the USA and its citizens, etc.

Do I have to remind Freepers, that Barry Goldwater spoke to the GOP convention in 1960 when Nixon was endorsed over Goldwater, “Conservatives grow up!” I have no patience with folks who are always complaining, never go out and do lit drops, telephone calls, write letters to the Editor, etc. To STOP THE MARCH TOWARD TOTALITARIANISM, we must all eventually rally around our candidate, flawed that he or she may be. Our country’s survival requires it. The future of my grand-nieces and nephews demand it.

We must NOT allow another Democratic administration to occupy the White House again.

You're the one with the tantrum. You can't even recognize what happened, and now you're on the floor screaming out of ignorance.

Most people stayed home because they weren't motivated by the candidate.

Even if the Republican nominee is going to do the same things the Democrat candidate would?

I think not. The important thing is to elect candidates during the primary process who believe in conservative, freedom oriented principles. And then work to ensure that they will live up to their campaign promises and act to return us to constitutional, limited government once they are elected.

That’s essentially what he said. He just said it differently.

However, it would have been nice if they could have been motivated by preventing America from being transformed into a third-world socialist cesspool.

Who is looking for “perfect?”

There are some on the Right who would vote for Obama if he had an “R” next to his name and the GOPe made him their perfumed prince.

Most of us held our nose and voted for the GOPe perfumed prince both in 2008 and 2012. Thanks to your boys stealing the Mississippi primary I hope you don’t expect us to hold our noses again.
