California Killer Given Additional Death Sentences
CBS8 ^ | Aug 01, 2014 | BRIAN MELLEY

Chester D. Turner is no stranger to murder or the punishment that comes with it. He squeezed the life out of more than a dozen women during a decade of terror, and two juries decided he should die for his crimes.

So it was merely a formality Friday that Turner, already on death row for 10 murders, was given four more death sentences for what a prosecutor called the city's most prolific serial killing.

Turner, 47, looked straight at Judge Robert Perry as he handed down the penalty for the string of inner-city killings during the crack cocaine epidemic. As Turner was led from court, he cursed at the prosecution and said, "I'll be back."

Why did they stop at four death sentences? Did they run low on relatives of the convicted?

“Too bad he wasn’t convicted in Texas.”

Agreed, how long since Cali actually executed anyone?

How about that Scott Peterson, is he still eating up tax payer dollars on Death Row?

And the always charming Menedez Boys, they breathe yet, do they not?

It is kind of amazing how Timothy McVeigh was tried, convicted and executed in such a short time, yet these other miscreants seem to hang around.

And no, I am not a purveyor of conspiracy theories, but it does make one wonder, it do.

Yeah...but even he could sit on death row in Texas for a long time.

I don’t think that there is any question that this creep did the deed. Why not put things on fast forward?

The article goes on to say: Whether Turner is ever executed is another question.

Yep, this is CA so justice for Turner's victims is in serious doubt.

There are 745 inmates on death row at San Quentin State Prison. More than 160 have been sentenced to die since executions were put on hold in 2006 because of court challenges over the lethal injection method. Turner has been sentenced to die twice since then.

I spent time on California's death row. I thought it was the safest place to be in the whole state. I think about the only way he will be back, as he said, is if he kills another inmate on the yard, and that certainly could happen. It has happened before.

Will the sentences run concurrently or consecutively?

Yeah, it is a silly question BUT
1) It is California, so
2) "What difference does it make"? since none of them will be carried out. And
3) Might there be some sort of difference if one was thrown out or downgraded to life or less?

He’s not afraid of dying....that’s an instant death. I’ll bet he’s afraid of having his arms and legs cut off and then being used as a door stop in the prison men’s room. Lesson: you must make the price of crime so great that nobody would entertain the notion. This goes for Islam as well. They must know that we are ready and willing to go to all out global war to wipe them off the face of the earth. Sadly, the demon possessed are not in their right mind. They must be destroyed, whether individual or ISIS.

So he gets to spend the rest of his life in Kali’s glamor slammers. They never carry out the DP.

Texas has the right approach.

Ashley Nichole ‘Nikki’ Read, age 8, RAPED and KILLED by david keen. 24 yrs ago. He has been on TN Death Row for 20 yrs. ALL State and Federal Appeals are run out. Yet TN Gov Bill Halsam (RINO) refuses to set an execution date or sign the exectution warrant.

Nickki was raped, strangled with her own Shoelaces, and thrown in the river still alive, where she finally drown to death. 24 Yrs of waiting for Justisce, is obscene.

Tell TN Governor to do his Constitutional Duty, that 2 juries decided was the right course of action. Death Penalty.

Timothy McVeigh waived all appeals and sped up his execution.

California judge: “Chester D. Turner, for your multiple crimes of murder, I sentence you to death by lethal injection. If I ever see you in my court again, I will sentence you to death.”

So what changed? Turner was condemned to death; it doesn't matter whether it was for 10 or 14 individual murders. Can the State of California give him the injection and bring Turner to the edge of dying thirteen times, pull back and get him stable, before giving him the full dose for victim No. 14? This time there would be no recall and Turner would get to room temperature for his Big Dirt Nap.
