One of two preteens accused of stabbing a classmate 19 times to please a fictional horror character was ordered Friday to receive treatment rather than stand trial, based on doctors' testimony that she claims to see and have conversations with things others cannot - including unicorns and a Harry Potter villain.
Judge Michael Bohren ordered the 12-year-old girl evaluated and treated either in a hospital or in a juvenile detention center, where she currently is being held. Doctors have a year to get the girl to a point where she can help with her defense and go to trial. If they can't, she could be held at a treatment center.
According to court documents, the girls plotted for months to kill their friend to curry favor with Slender Man, a character in horror stories they read online.

These girls aren’t stupid, they know how to weasel out of a murder wrap
I agree with you. Harry Potter villians, yeah, like that’s what really crazy (or demonically possessed) people see.
Full of s*** is the medical terminology we want here.
Look at the flowers, girls...
“Insane, but guilty”
There was a whole Quincy episode on the need for such a ruling.
Well maybe Slender Man and the girls will meet The Fat Lady that sings when they receive their sentences...
I could use a wrap. It’s rather chilly tonight.
From the net, FYI to parents. (It does not seem to have anything to do with Harry Potter.):
Who is Slender Man?
Slender Man was initially the creation of a web user called Eric Knudsen. He entered a ‘paranormal pictures’ Photoshop contest on a comedy internet forum called Something Awful in June 2009. Participants had to turn ordinary photographs into creepy looking images, which were later passed off as authentic photos on a number of paranormal forums, reports Know Your Meme.
After Knudsen created Slender Man, describing him as a mysterious creature who stalked children, other Something Awful users began creating their own versions of Slender Man and these spread onto other sites, appearing in fan art, short stories, videos, video games and other media all over the web.
He is usually portrayed as a blank-faced, tall, thin figure in a suit, with tentacles protruding from his back. Depending on the interpretations of the myth, he can cause memory loss, paranoia and coughing fits (known as “slendersickness”), and can teleport at will.
3 completely fictional characters.
That is just wrongx1000
Sounds like a bit like the aliens trying to pass themselves off as human in Whitley Streibers book.
I just hate, hate, hate that at such a young age you did such a koo koo thing.
Because now you must pay for your crime. At least that is how it plays out in my mind.

Yes, that fat lady will be Disney Villainess Ursala!
That character scares me so much I couldn’t even listen to the interview with an actress who played the part on Broadway.
I sincerely could not.
I think Ursala will get them all straightened out.
You want imaginary stuff, I’ve got imaginary stuff for you.
You are right. They are not stupid. The stupid ones, are the idiots who bought it.
Some 12 year old girls can be very devious.
As soon as I saw the word unicorns, I knew it was a set up. Morgan is dark not frilly. I bet these girls walk and will kill again and will make sure their victims are dead. Morgan Geyser is the one I fear most. She has sociopath written all over her.
