The first Ebola victim to be brought to the United States from Africa was safely escorted into a specialized isolation unit Saturday at one of the nation's best hospitals, where doctors said they are confident the deadly virus won't escape.
Fear that the outbreak killing more than 700 people in Africa could spread in the U.S. has generated considerable anxiety among some Americans. But infectious disease experts said the public faces zero risk as Emory University Hospital treats a critically ill missionary doctor and a charity worker who were infected in Liberia.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has received "nasty emails" and at least 100 calls from people saying "How dare you bring Ebola into the country!?" CDC Director Tom Frieden told The Associated Press Saturday.
"I hope that our understandable fear of the unfamiliar does not trump our compassion when ill Americans return to the U.S. for care," Frieden said.

What Moron decided to build the CDC in a large city? They moved the Manhatten Project in the middle of nowhere for two reasons: To keep it secret and in case something went wrong it wouldn’t take the town with it.
Remember when AIDS first started and the doctors of the CDC became 'rock stars'... and grants and money flowed like water? Incentives can be subtle.
Then again, part of the Manhatten project - an unshielded reactor - was located under a sports field at the University of Chicago... That worked without damage. This might too. We'll find out when someone starts pointing out hindsight's 20/20...
It started as the center of the fight against malaria in the US. Very reasonable to put it there at the time.
Not to mention currency...
Ebola’s saving grace is people die fast enough that the epidemic becomes self contained. I don’t know if that will hold in a large modern city... hopefully we’ll never find out.
That is exactly what goes through my mind when I hear there is no risk. Many medical professionals have become ill, that should have known better.
Sorry!
High drama. Talk shows galore. Grant money up the wazoo....
There is NO medical reason - none - nada - zip - for the CDC to be risking the lives of millions of Americans so they can treat this doctor here. Other than their own convenience and above narcissism.
The good doctor working in Africa was probably NOT scheduled to come back for months anyhow - he could just as easily been treated there by the CDC.
Hah! Yesterday while watching the doctor go to the hospital I kept seeing the opening seen where Rick wakes up in the hospital and there is no one around but him.....and all the zombies behind the chain locked door. lol
“I respect his sacrifice but he should not have been brought back to the USA.”
Even stupidity could see that. Bringing him back can only be motivated by Evil.
Better question is why the deep south ? They had three other centers apparently. Let me guess, we have a Lois Lerner type running the CDC ?
"We moved our base camp last night and were now positioned literally
within feet of the river. Have been sitting here watching the border
patrol patrolling in their riverboats all night and all morning..."~Jim Robinson
The only logical justification could be the experimental vaccine he gave to his assistant ? They think it might be a significant enough factor to justify the risk. And that explains why all DC’s tools are trying to defend the action with their typical manure.
Obama is the Walking Dude.

Do you think these African countries are trying to extort us into sending money to them so that they can contain the virus there? Of course, whatever we give them will go into the coffers of a small circle of corrupt elites.
“Do you think these African countries are trying to extort us into sending money to them so that they can contain the virus there?”
Considering that all the information I have was filtered through the lying lamestream media, I just don’t know. It sounds pretty crazy, but there are a lot of crazy scumbags out there.
It’s possible. But I saw a picture of the one guy who has it. He was standing in front of his hospital, with no garb on at all, chatting with people coming into the clinic. It would only take an inadvertent sneeze before someone shook his hand, and a scratch.
