For white America, confronting its own racism is a lot like attitudes surrounding the virus that can lead to AIDS.
Witnessing the death of Eric Garner, at the hands of uniformed police in New York City, got me to thinking about racism in America. This African-American man was confronted by police for selling single, probably-untaxed, cigarettes on the street. When the man resisted, he was held in a chokehold a practice deemed unlawful for over 20 years which was horrifyingly caught on tape. The man was obese and carried no firearm, yet he was wrestled to the ground and held in the chokehold, despite his saying seven times, I cant breathe! He was pronounced dead at the scene, and since then, his death has been ruled a homicide (meaning that his death was caused by the chokehold, rather than a number of other physical maladies which afflicted him, among them asthma and diabetes). I couldnt help but wonder whether or not this man would have ever been stopped, were it not for his race.
We white Americans all-too-seldom reflect upon the issue of racism, because we dont have to. We dont have to think about it, because the system is set up to benefit us, at the expense of people of color, without our ever doing anything mean or unkind, so it is very easy never to even notice how life is for someone not in our majority....

“We white Americans all-too-seldom reflect upon the issue of racism”
Hey buddy! I did not give you permission to say “WE”
Speak for yourself. I’m sick of idiots like you saying that all Whites are racist even if they’re not.
I’ve been thinking about the race issue a lot lately and I can think of many people of different races that I like and cut up with on a personal level. And then I read all this divisive crap online and I feel my blood pressure rising and I realize I’m being played by a divisive MSM and the political powers that be. I realize my emotions are being manipulated and that they fear most is a uniting of people of all colors against them as one; good vs evil and they can’t have that. We really need to put the race issue aside and oust this cancer.
But if it were HIV we would be encouraged to “gift” it to our partners.
“Bishop” my ***. He’s nothing but an “openly gay” homosexual race hustler.
And when blacks torture and kill whites it is no big deal. Many of us have heard this one way, non-stop guilt rubbish for way too long.
race issues will never be put aside- they need to continue for people like obama, holder, jesse jackson and al sharpton to remain relevant...
the same way demoKrats need people to remain poor to stay relevant, there are a bunch of left wing extreme liberals, who are often black, that need racism to exist so they remain relevant...
why??? white liberals aren’t race hustlers as well??
HomoPhonyic = being accused of being anti gay wrongly...
So the basis for this entire finger-pointing article is nothing more than his unhinged wondering, without any evidence whatsoever.
Got it.
I'm now working on my next article where I couldn't help but wonder whether Bishop Gene Robinson (Retired) wears a condom when he's having sexual relations with pigs and goats.
I presumed that you thought he was black.
When the man resisted, he was held in a chokehold
Another question you might ask is; if it were not for this mans race would he have resisted.
You might ask; has the Black community been so infused with the racist orthodoxy that all whites are racist and that the law enforcers are racist in every arrest of Blacks that the moment that a LEO talks to a Black caught in the obvious commission of a crime that they immediately become belligerent and resist arrest.
Racism is not just a White Thing. Each man is responsible for his own actions.
The arresting officers may have been unprofessional and may have acted excessively considering the offence but the deceased is not without blame. Had he submitted to the arrest he would be alive today.
Probably suffers from wet brain syndrome, and is confusingly projecting his views as those of people that have morals and values foreign to him.
I reflect on racism against whites also.
Do you like obama or Holder? No? That's Racism, hater.
Do you like Biden or Reid? No? That's Ageism, hater.
Do you like Hillary or Pelosi? No? That's Sexism, hater.
Do you like GW Bush? No?!? Lol, I guess not even a racist, sexist who hates old people could be that stupid.
No, and there is no racism (at least in me). It’s not an issue that I’m even a bit worried about!
I can't tell you how little I care about the opinion of a cockroach.
racism is the blacks’ syphillis, then.
Some people just need to hold onto their victim hood status. Institutional racism ended in the early sixties. MLK’s famous speech has always been hailed as a rallying cry...not the victory speech it actually was.
Most white people, even back then, were not racists, and the ones that were racists are thankfully long gone. In short, the changing that white America had do, happened years ago. It’s now way past time for black America to change. It’s obviously a hard step, but clinging to old notions of racial bigotry is a guaranteed failure. Instead of choosing black leaders that lift up black people, black America still wants to hear how its being held down and held back.
Black America relishes in its victim hood status and until someone leads them out of the state of mind, they will continue to have broken families, broken hearts, and broken dreams. They will continue to allow themselves to be used and abused by hucksters like Barack Obama and Al Sharpton.
My uncle told me something years ago that I cling to to this day: In life, you are either going to make progress or make excuses why you’re not making progress. It’s that simple.
Black America has chosen to make excuses why it’s not making progress. It’s not only disappointing. In some ways it’s more sad than actual racism because it’s self imposed failure.
I care even less about what this mentally ill person thinks about me.
