Israel was once again criticized on Sunday for an attack on a United Nations school in Gaza, which the United States said was disgraceful.
According to the AFP news agency, in one of the most strongly-worded statements yet from Washington since the conflict began nearly a month ago, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the United States was "appalled" by the attack on the school in Rafiah.
At least 10 people were killed in the shelling, the third time in 10 days that a UN school has been hit in fighting.
"The United States is appalled by today's disgraceful shelling outside an UNRWA school in Rafah sheltering some 3,000 displaced persons, in which at least 10 more Palestinian civilians were tragically killed," Psaki said in a statement quoted by AFP.
"We once again stress that Israel must do more to meet its own standards and avoid civilian casualties."
She noted that the United Nations had "repeatedly" communicated to the Israeli Defense Forces the coordinates of the school and the world body's other facilities.
The IDF confirmed it had fired on a target "in the vicinity" of the school.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
That Escalated Quickly.
The U.S.? Does that mean Obama, Lerner, Clinton,
Huma, and Kerry WHO FUNDED the missiles, the tunnels,
and the planned genocide in a demilitarized area,
as signed by .... Clinton?
Play stupid games (like using schools for RPG launching pads), win stupid prizes (like getting attached back).
How many rockets were hidden in the school?
Hey, Jen, UN, 2990 of the 3,000 people in the shelter WEREN'T killed.
Sounds to me like Israel IS minimizing civilian casualties.
Obviously Hamas placed the weapons there in hopes of MORE civilians being killed.
There have been pictures posted all over twitter of Hamas hanging children by their pants on buildings so that if Israel attacks the building, they can use those children’s deaths and use it against Israel..Hamas has already figured out they can’t win the war, but they can win the PR war since they know that their butt buddy Obama is anti Israel and his administration is Anti Israel
Ms. Psali’a Twitter is https://mobile.twitter.com/statedeptspox
The efforts of the American Men Seeking Men media notwithstanding.
what is disgraceful is the US administation’s criticism of Isarel removing a theat to her people
get used to it, those damnedJoos are NOT going to the ovens a second time, no matter how much money and weapons O sends to his IslamoNazi friends over in that part of the world
I'd really like to hear a more muscular response to the insane leftists from the republicans. They never cease to disappoint these days.
With the US media they are unfortunately winning the PR war..not sure if it would make a difference even if no Palestinians were killed because every time Hamas and Israel fight it brings out the Jew hate, not just in the media, but around the world..happened in 2006, happened in 2009, and its happening again..I think with social media, it just brings the cockroaches out even more with their Hitler loving rhetoric
Bammy say yod yammit quit blowin my boys up! They’re in those schools to keep that from happening but those dang Israelis cheat.
Not sure if this is Karma, Schadenfreude, or timing is a b*tch:
Reporter-—standing in front of UN school condeming Israel for targeting such sites—— has to quickly duck because Hamas launches a missle from the site.
Yawn. Tell it to the Hamass boys.
Disgraceful is the silence of Obama while Christian are massacred by Muslims all around Africa and Middle East.
Those who attack Israel should keep in mind that in the quest for a lasting peace, Israel gave back Gaza to the Palestinians. Unfortunately,
Those who ignore History are damned to repeat it George Santayana.
Hamas follows a Palestine terrorist tradition. Remember the PLO. Hussein, the king of Jordan opened the door of his country to Palestinian refugees, and in 1970 almost two-thirds of the Jordanian population was Palestinian, and how they show their gratitude, Yasser Arafat, attempted to dethrone King Hussein, to assassinate him in three occasions and to turn his army against him. He lied to the King, betrayed him.
Remember Black September: The Jordanian-PLO Civil War of 1970 exploded. A bloodbath ensued. Up to 15,000 Palestinian militants and civilians were killed, swaths of Palestinian towns and refugee camps, where the PLO had massed weapons, leveled, the PLO leadership decimated, and between 50,000 and 100,000 people were left homeless. King Hussein with his loyal Bedouin soldiers expelled the PLO from Jordan by early 1971. King Hussein was criticized, but he eradicated one and for all the cancer of Islamic terrorism from his Kingdom.
History repeats itself. Israel should not stop until Hamas is defeated and his leaders are captured or killed.
