Is Barack Obama Plotting a Coup?
Powerline ^ | 8/3/2014 | John Hinderaker

Posted on 08/04/2014 4:18:06 AM PDT by markomalley

That seems like an awfully strong word, but it is the term that distinguished law professor Glenn Reynolds, no hysteric, uses to describe the Obama administration’s oft-reported plan to issue executive amnesty to five or six million illegal immigrants in violation of federal law. Glenn’s characterization is a fair one. When a tyrant asserts the right to rule by decree in a state that has formerly been subject to the rule of law, he is commonly described as carrying out a coup d’etat.

That is just what the Obama administration has done, and reportedly will continue to do. When Obama changed the Affordable Care Act by decree–to name just one example, substituting “2014″ for “2013″ in a critical provision of the statute–he acted as a tyrant. In his refusal to enforce the immigration laws, contrary to the Constitution which requires him to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed,” he has acted like a tinpot dictator, asserting the right to change or ignore the law by fiat. If he now directly nullifies Section 274(a) of the Immigration and Nationalities Act by legalizing, and issuing work permits to, five or six million illegal immigrants, thereby repealing federal law by decree, how else can we describe his action but as a coup? The Obama administration openly takes the position that the rule of law no longer applies.

Can you imagine the furor that would have resulted if President Nixon, in the midst of the Watergate crisis, had asserted the right to repeal or amend federal statutes by decree? No, actually, you can’t. Forget impeachment; he would have been escorted out of the Oval Office by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. What, then, makes Barack Obama special? How can he claim the right to rule by decree without suffering the same condemnation? Well, the answer is obvious: he is a Democrat. But is that really enough? No president, Democrat or Republican, has ever dreamed of asserting such unconstitutional authority.

I am one of many who have ridiculed the Democrats’ seemingly weird obsession with impeachment. But perhaps there is method to the Democrats’ apparent madness. If they know that President Obama is about to do something that obviously warrants impeachment–asserting the right to rule by executive decree, and repealing the nation’s immigration laws by fiat–perhaps it is shrewd on their part to preemptively attack the idea of impeachment and commit Republicans to the fact that they have no thought of any such thing. Then, when Obama makes his move, it will be harder for Republicans to switch gears and start talking about removing him from office. That strikes me as the most logical explanation for the Democrats’ well-coordinated, but seemingly pointless, anti-impeachment campaign.

Today, the White House started backing off on plans to issue an executive amnesty. Maybe, as Glenn Reynolds says, this is a sign that someone in the White House is in touch with reality. Perhaps a coup has been averted, on this subject at least. But eternal vigilance is the price of liberty, so let’s not let down our guard.

All that’s left is the handwringing.

There's the Senate race and then (for instance) impeachment.

In the meantime please bring your A-game to these threads. Defeatism is the kiss of death, FRiend.

DEMOCRATS WISHING ON A STAR FOR IMPEACHMENT Senior Obama Adviser Dan Pfeiffer told reporters at a CSM breakfast that it's possible that Obama could be impeached by the Republican-controlled House....b/c Boehner's lawsuit "opened the door" to impeachment. Obama Press Secretary Josh Earnest was coached to say "prominent voices in the Republican party" have called for impeachment.

"I hereby impeach you."

ROTFLOL---Desperate Dummycrats are resurrecting the impeachment bugaboo to raise shady money.....actually raising monies for impeachment from diehard Obama suckups.

The impeachment gambit----and Obama's obsessive non-stop fund raising----is beginning to look sinister. The world smolders but the Dumbcrat ding-a-lings are wishing on a star for impeachment.

=========================================

REALITY CHECK Could this be a WH/Democrat Ponzi scheme in progress?

While they bash Wall Street publicly, leaders of the Democrats' mega-funder "The Democracy Alliance" have quietly recruited venture capitalists, bankers and hedge fund moguls -- along with union bosses and red-diaper trust fund babies -- to fund their takeover goals. ....$230,000 public school union dues go to the Democrats' "Democracy Alliance."

"The Democracy Alliance" does not itself raise and spend a great deal of money. Rather, being a partner in the Alliance requires one to contribute large amounts to other left-wing groups. The Alliance evaluates left-wing organizations on various criteria, and makes recommendations to its members as to where they should put their money. Currently, the Alliance lists 21 groups in its “Aligned Network”:

<><> America Votes, American Constitution Society, Black Civic Engagement Fund, Brennan Center, Catalyst, Center for American Progress, Center for Community Change, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Common Purpose Project, Fund for the Republic, Latino Engagement Fund, Media Matters for America, New Media Ventures, New Organizing Institute, Organizing For Action, Progressive Majority, Progress Now, State Engagement Initiative, State Voices, Women’s Equality Center and Youth Engagement Fund.<><>

The most interesting of the D/A documents that have come to light is the one that contains D/A’s “investment recommendations” for 2014. Not only does it list the recommended organizations, but it rates each organization in several categories, sets out the group’s budget for 2014, and shows how much of that budget should be contributed by the 100 members of the "Democracy Alliance." One category in which DA rates the organizations is “Collaboration,” as DA believes that all left-wing groups should coordinate their activities for maximum political impact.

Opportunistic pols like Harry Reid have denounced Charles and David Koch, and others, who contribute to conservative causes as “shadowy,” “secretive” people who dare infest politics with “dark money.”

In that context, it is worth noting that most of the groups to which the Alliance and its elite liberal members contribute are 501(c)(4)s that do not disclose their donors.

===============================================

ANALYSIS Buncha sap-happy Dummy/dopes are feeding the Democrats' Democracy Alliance lotsa money---thinking its safe.....going to a "good thing."

That's exactly how Madoff operated. Money-laundering, tax evasion was part of the Madoff mix---helping investors, foundations, and tax-exempts break the law in a seemingly legal way.

=====================================================

Madoff helped himself to the untraceable money in the process.....and got himself in trouble. When he went to jail for 125 years, investigators found Ponzi King Madoff had stashed billions offshore---into a labyrinth of financial entities.

COLLUSION AND CONSPIRACIES GALORE Some $8.9 billion was funneled to Madoff through a dozen so-called feeder funds based in Europe, the Caribbean and Central America......a labyrinth of hedge funds, management companies and service providers that, to unsuspecting outsiders, seemed to compose a formidable system of checks and balances.

But the purpose of this complex financial architecture was just the opposite: the feeder funds provided different modes for directing money to Madoff in order to avoid scrutiny.

Dummycrats apparently took notes.

Not true. The father of the modern rat party, FDR, invented this crap. He basically used the constitution for toilet paper. The current bowel movement is just following his example.

Psalm 80 is about God removing our ‘hedges’ and allowing the intruders to eat our fruit when we turn from Him.

Exactly what’s going on in America. We’ve turned from Him.

I realized in October 2008 that a coup was being put in place. I still do not think we have seen the end-game for this regime.

America is a land without borders, without Law

Not true. In fact there are two sets of laws. One for us peasants and another for the government thugs who keep us in line. For example, Police can shoot anyone's dog they want to, but you go to jail for looking funny at a police dog (sorry "canine officer")

Obama has worked very hard to remake the military and replace much of the leadership. He has half of the population enthralled with him and will never back his forceful removal. The only possibility as you indicate would be a fast counter coup and then the need to arrest the Obamabots in government and suppress the leftist terrorists in the general population. It will be bloody, but what is now happening is the death of the country. There is no good outcome left for the country.

Americans (Liberals and half-as&^ed Conservatives) it seems, are not at the gag point yet with all “O’s” usurpation and abuse of power.

They are waiting to have it shoved a little further up their hoo ha, because they’re actually liking it!!!

The rest of us can’t wait for this jerk to get out of office.
