We also should be over there in full force helping the Kurds
About time. Maliki hasn’t done much to bring the Kurds into the Iraqi fold.
Seems like one MOAB would quiet things down.
Hate to see the Kurdish region lost. That’s one area worth saving and they are our best allies there.
Except that Obama is helping ISIS by providing weapons and training to the Syrian rebels.
Based on that Obama worked up a plan but decided to submit back to congress, in this case the intelligence committee since his plan was classified. That committee then classified their vote because they didn't want the public to know how they each voted.
From media reports we know a lot how it works. CIA picks a group who travels to Turkey for a vetting process and then sent to a base in Qatar where they are trained. We know that they are giving them anti-tank weapons but the Syrians want anti-aircraft weapons and the Syrians are complaining the process is to slow, to make any difference.
Most recently congress is talking about more money and faster training. And some of them like McCain are saying give them anti-aircraft weapons.
I doubt that Israel will OK giving them anti-aircraft weapons
As for ISIS, we know that some of the Saudi money/weapons went to ISIS.
There is a PBS Frontline show that aired a couple of months ago titled "Arming the Syrian Rebels" that was informative. Its about 20 min long.
