Fear of ‘Another Benghazi’ Drove White House to Airstrikes in Iraq
New York Slimes ^ | 8/8/2014 | MARK LANDLER, ALISSA J. RUBIN, MARK MAZZETTI and HELENE COOPER

On Wednesday evening, moments after finishing a summit meeting with African leaders at the State Department, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff delivered a stark message to President Obama as they rode back to the White House in Mr. Obama’s limousine.

The Kurdish capital, Erbil, once an island of pro-American tranquillity, was in the path of rampaging Sunni militants, the chairman, Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, told the president. And to the west, the militants had trapped thousands of members of Iraqi minority groups on a barren mountaintop, with dwindling supplies, raising concerns about a potential genocide.

With American diplomats and business people in Erbil suddenly at risk, at the American Consulate and elsewhere, Mr. Obama began a series of intensive deliberations that resulted, only a day later, in his authorizing airstrikes on the militants, as well as humanitarian airdrops of food and water to the besieged Iraqis.

Looming over that discussion, and the decision to return the United States to a war Mr. Obama had built his political career disparaging, was the specter of an earlier tragedy: the September 2012 attack on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, which killed four Americans, including Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens....

Wait, what? Why should they be afraid of something that Hill said didn’t matter?

What a scum. He’s eating a hearty dinner in a safe cozy restaurant while our heroes are fighting off madmen.

How did he get reelected?

That and Burry wanted to test his ISIS troops with their new weapons from Libya.

Putting on Lakers uniforms on Jayvee teams does make them Kobe Bryant.

Sending Jihadi radicals to American run training camps in Jordan, training them with American special forces and CIA advisers, providing them advanced weapons, ammo, organizational and financial support helps makes them pretty effective killers.

Equipping them with plundered Libyan military weapons and hardware, makes them even more effective killers

Allowing then to run wild in Iraq with impunity , seizing American weapons given to Iraqi Army and hundreds of millions of dollars in cash turns them into a pretty effective Army.

Obama making them into a pretty effective army has allowed then to seize enough territory from Syria and Iraq to make themselves their own little country they call the Caliphate of the Levant.

To use the kind of analogy that Obama sometimes uses and understands, having your own country is like having very own basket ball league, lets call them the Jihadi NBA where Obama gave them the basket ball court, the basket, the basket balls, the coaches and of course the all important uniforms.

Obama gave Al Qaeda a league of their own and when you have a league of your own YOU get to decide the rules, including deciding yourself who is jay eve, varsity or pro.

FWIW, ISIL may not be able sink 1 free shot in 10 on the B-Ball court, but they sure seem to make the Al Qaeda Jihadi Maniac's All Star Team for Conquest, Plunder, Torture , War Crimes, Beheading and Crucifixion.

Based on recent progress, they make a hell of a traveling team and despite the ignominy of being very low seeded in Obama’s rating system, they are doing great in their brackets and so far remain undefeated.

It's hard to tell if ISIL is the real deal or not and just how far ISIL can make it to the final four because up until now , Obama has seeded Team ISIL so they have had to face virtually virtually no serious opposition in the game they are playing

When it comes B-Ball ISIL may not be able to hit the rimshot from the free throw line, but sure they do mean full court press, flooding the zone with severed heads of innocent women and children mounted on sticks.

Ordinarily, such bad bracket work would be a big problem but there is one place where Obama has the NBA beat hands down and that's with his cheerleading team in the media.

Any one who has watched the NBA cheerleaders has to admit that is quite an achievement.

If only you were a WH foreign policy adviser, you could then explain things in those ESPN terms that Barry can understand.

“How did he get reelected?”

I blame Chris Christie.

I will never forget waking up in my dark house, we still didn’t have power after Hurricane Sandy (but we did vote, no problem with that) and looking at Ace of Spades blog and seeing “Romney Concedes”. My heart just sank.

It remains the darkest moment of a very dark time and quite frankly it’s been downhill since then.

Do I think things would be better for me, personally, if Romney had won, yes I do. That might be delusional on my part, but I least I wouldn’t have to be worrying about a “Caliphate” of Maniacs on top of everything else.

And the despicable, anti-white racist Eric Holder would be gone.

Several fighters who had fought ISIS said they were daunted when they discovered the militants were traveling in bulletproof vehicles that left the pesh merga’s bullets doing little more than pockmarking the metal.

I wonder where ISIS got those bulletproof vehicles? Obama is the gift to terrorists that keeps on giving.

His policy failed to make him look good. So now he reacts to the failure by flailing around and doing things he’s philosophically opposed to, rather than formulating a new policy consistent with his philosophy. THANK G-D!

Like I just commented on another post, Obama (aka the wrecking ball) is being forced to protect Christians and it’s probably causing him to go into a tizzy. Faith can move mountains (or so it is said). Those of us that have that faith know that good will overcome evil and that Obama’s term will expire and he can spend all day on the golf course (sure as hell can’t bowl or throw a baseball). The Great OZ has spoken.

I tend to believe that if and when Obama leaves office his true identity/history will become public. Such will show that the USA was hoodwinked into having a POTUSA who was not and is not a USA citizen. Obama will have millions of USA citizen dollars to afford him life in his real origin of SE Asia.

And the ~40%+ play the fools for the party over the Country/Constitution with the most ‘hostile’ question of the regime being ‘what’s your favorite color?’

Look at this. Making the American people think they learn from their mistakes. Benghazi was not a mistake, it was intentional, Iraq was not a mistake, it is intentional.

These scumbags either have damaging info on Obama, or one of his close pals. Perhaps Jarret, or maybe they have info on Benghazi.

It is going to be Obama’s Berlin Airlift. Obama is a dangerous, clueless man who is only interested in his political legacy.....and he even has a distorted analysis of what that will be.

Oh, but that can’t be true! I’ve been assured that the House panel said they did nothing wrong. It couldn’t be possible that they know better!...Could it?

And what difference, at this point, does it make?
