UNCONFIRMED reports suggest troops have sealed off Baghdad’s “Green Zone” in an apparent coup.

Controversial Iraqi PM Maliki won a fresh round of elections, but does not hold a clear majority in parliament.

He technically remains prime minister until parliament sits and votes.

But Mr Maliki has this morning lashed out against his opponents, calling them “ministers for ISIS”.

“Today I will file a formal complaint to the federal court against the president,” he said, in a surprise address at midnight Iraq time.

Thank you for another Iraq map showing control of terrain on 8/10/14. The current issue of Archeology has an interesting article on the 6,000 year continuous history of Arbil (Irbil).

Yes, this definitely calls for several rounds of golf in the vineyard.

Now that the Kurds are selling oil directly to Turkey Baghdad is talking nice with them.

The Republic of Iraq is dead. It is being replaced by the federated autonomous states of Iraq. Which is what it should have been in 2006 like many experts recommended. Only the Kurds supported it at the time. The Shia and Sunni believed they’d prevail in a ‘winner take all’ federal republic. And where’s that gotten them?

The Sunni will settle for an autonomous state and so with the Shia. It’s just a matter of how badly they’ll bloody each other before accepting it.

the original fall was when the CIA executed Diem as part of a coup. JFK was still kicking.

The aftermath was a long labored sad affair.

In the end, what is it always about? Oil.

It saddens me every time I read anything about the Middle East and it includes the name of our president:

BARRACK HUSSEIN OBAMA.

My God, the idiot voters in this country!

Way back when, someone told me there was oil off both Vietnam and Lebanon. But I still think construction and armament contracts were big.

Of course military contracts are always in the mix.
And there was reporting many years back from the news
networks about the large oil/gas reserves off the coast
of NAM.
