Iraq crisis: 'It is death valley. Up to 70 per cent of them are dead'
The Telegraph ^ | 8:00AM BST 10 Aug 2014 | Jonathan Krohn

Posted on 08/12/2014 9:43:12 AM PDT by Dave346

On board Iraqi army helicopter delivering aid to the trapped Yazidis, Jonathan Krohn sees a hellish sight

Mount Sinjar stinks of death. The few Yazidis who have managed to escape its clutches can tell you why. “Dogs were eating the bodies of the dead,” said Haji Khedev Haydev, 65, who ran through the lines of Islamic State jihadists surrounding it.

On Sunday night, I became the first western journalist to reach the mountains where tens of thousands of Yazidis, a previously obscure Middle Eastern sect, have been taking refuge from the Islamic State forces that seized their largest town, Sinjar.

I was on board an Iraqi Army helicopter, and watched as hundreds of refugees ran towards it to receive one of the few deliveries of aid to make it to the mountain. The helicopter dropped water and food from its open gun bays to them as they waited below. General Ahmed Ithwany, who led the mission, told me: “It is death valley. Up to 70 per cent of them are dead.”

Two American aid flights have also made it to the mountain, where they have dropped off more than 36,000 meals and 7,000 gallons of drinking water to help the refugees, and last night two RAF C-130 transport planes were also on the way.

However, Iraqi officials said that much of the US aid had been “useless” because it was dropped from 15,000ft without parachutes and exploded on impact.

Handfuls of refugees have managed to escape on the helicopters but many are being left behind because the craft are unable to land on the rocky mountainside. There, they face thirst and starvation, as well as the crippling heat of midsummer.

Hundreds, if not more, have already died, including scores of children.

"The slaughter of as many as 500,000 Christians in South Sudan since 2011 may not have received the attention it deserved. However, now the religious cleansing of Christians in Iraq resulting from Islamic jihadists’ conquest of lands Christians had called home since the first centuries A.D. cannot be ignored."

Lets see, who was our president from 2011 to now?

Isn't he wonderful! Lord Obama gives us free abortions and birth control. Then, he is letting ISIS, HAMAS, and other Islamic groups kill all those evil/judgemental Christians and Jews.

Prayer for Iraq

O God, who art the unsearchable abyss of peace,
the ineffable sea of love, the fountain of blessings
and the bestower of affection,
who sendest peace to those that receive it;

Open to us this day the sea of thy love
and water us with plenteous streams
from the riches of thy grace
and from the most sweet springs of thy kindness.

Make us children of quietness and heirs of peace,
enkindle in us the fire of thy love;
sow in us thy fear;
strengthen our weakness by thy power;
bind us closely to thee and to each other
in our firm and indissoluble bond of unity:

Syrian Clementine Liturgy (in: For all God’s people; p. 73)

The full text of Patriarch Sako’s prayer for peace follows:

Lord,
The plight of our country
is deep and the suffering of Christians
is severe and frightening.
Therefore, we ask you Lord
to spare our lives, and to grant us patience,
and courage to continue our witness of Christian values
with trust and hope.
Lord, peace is the foundation of life;
Grant us the peace and stability that will enable us
to live with each other without fear and anxiety,
and with dignity and joy.

Glory be to you forever.  Amen.

Litany for Iraq

For lasting peace in this ancient land – From you, O Lord.
For wisdom and compassion for all in authority – From you, O Lord.
For comfort for families separated or bereaved – From you, O Lord.
For the release of captives – From you, O Lord.
For safety and security for minority communities.
For refreshment for the weary and healing for the sick – From you, O Lord.
For continuing faithfulness of the ancient churches of this land – From you, O Lord.
For tenacity of spirit for small Christian groups – From you, O Lord.
For the mutual enrichment and support of those of different Christian traditions – From you, O Lord.

You, Lord of all, we confess;
You, Lord Jesus, we glorify;
For you are the life of our bodies
And you are the Saviour of our souls.

The response in the litany and this hymn both come from the Chaldean liturgy. The ancient hymn celebrates Christ the source of resurrection in all situations of death and deprivation. (in: With All God’s People, p. 21, 22)

From Anonymous:

Father God, Our Savior and King,

We come to You in despair over the evil being done to our Middle East Christian brothers and sisters. We ask that You would put Your hand of protection upon them and that You would sustain them as You did the Israelites in the desert. Lord, cause our brothers and sisters to cry out to You for help and show them the peace that only You can give in answer to their needs. In their darkest moments, Lord, keep them, strengthen them, and comfort them. When they despair that no one is coming to help them, Lord, reveal Your glory and restore their souls.

We ask you these things in the blessed name of Your precious son, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

I read the whole article, makes sense to me. Scientists know that air resistance causes speed of drop to stabilize between 100 and 200 miles per hour. Doesn’t matter how high. The only problem is that they recommend dropping the water bottles in a body of water where they float bottle cap up. No water on this mountain, but even then many plastic bottles do not break.

Meanwhile, here is the latest horror story from Australia about the insanity of these extreme terrorists and how they brutalize their own children:

70% of how many??

Original reports were that 40,000 people were on this mountain, and some 20,000 have been rescued.

Did Obama allow 13,000 Christians to die?

Read the technical link at Comment 5 and then ask yourself how trustworthy comments by Iraqi officials who no doubt are nowhere near the mountain, thanks to it being surrounded by ISIS, are likely to be. Would you rather trust our military technical advisors or Iraqi officials?

The people on this mountain are not Christians but Yazidis, considered by ISI to be heretics and apostates and deserving of death.

ISIS does not even follow the Muslim rules of war, such as they are.

Glorious Arab Spring. Why are we afflicted with such idiots in our government. Destabilize the Muslim world, and democracy and freedom will bloom like flowers.

I earlier posted a link at another site which showed the mountain range where they are trapped. It is at least 25 miles long by 4 miles wide. Many of these people are so far gone that they would be lucky to be able to walk a few hundred yards if they saw packages dropped. What is really need is medics airdropped/delivered over the whole 25 mile spread, which is not likely to be able to be done in time to save many even if the American public approved “boots on the ground.” This would most safely be done by helicopters. The aircraft need some place to take off from, where would that have been with the chaos in Bagdad? Look at a map. Of course it would help if wherever they were located they were already loaded with MREs and small water bottles, rather than 100 lb. bags of flour, rice and big oil tins which would be more likely for urban food deliveries. NOTE: I have a son in Special Forces who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also was in charge of a helicopter maintenance group for a while. Trust me, it ain’t so simple folks.

15,000 feet is the max range for most MANPADS.
A C-130’s only defense against MANPADS is flares. The C-130 is about as maneuverable as brick with wings. The crew was likely ordered to stay above the MANPADS engagement envelope.

Those poor people on the mountain, but look at the choice they had. Apparently Christians and others not Islamic enough who have fled to Mosul are being butchered. This link is horribly graphic, but apparently they are beheading children, and cutting the throats of women and draining their blood. One comment says only the Catholic papers are willing to show these pictures. We can help. I rember reading that young bull elephants are known to herd together and go on rampages. It appears all the most vicious bloodthirsty young Islamic men in the world are rushing to join ISIS. These horrible pictures are posted by them and they show great glee while committing their atrocities.
