Before You Pass Judgment On Rick Perry…

You ought to see this video first. This is the dash cam footage from the patrol car that pulled over Travis County D.A., Rosemary Lehmberg for DWI.

< href=http://youtu.be/JrxsCH_p1oc>Travis County DA Rosemary Lehmberg Drunk Driving Arrest Dash Cam

Here is the booking video when she was taken into custody.

TRAVIS COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY LEHMBERG'S BOOKING FOOTAGE KOKE FM 042113

Rick Perry thought her to be a disgrace, and wanted her to resign. She didn’t. So he took the next step and threatened to veto funding for her office. In response, a grand jury handed down an abuse of power indictment for coercive use of a veto late this afternoon. So the woman who was belligerent and intoxicated stays, Rick Perry is the bad guy and needs to go. Right. Got it.

Update: In case you want to give Lehmberg the benefit of the doubt, here is what her blood alcohol level was at the time of her arrest and booking, according to her attorney, David Sheppard.

District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg has pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, was sentenced to 45 days in jail and immediately taken into custody.

Lehmberg’s blood alcohol level registered at 0.23 when she was arrested April 13, her attorney David Sheppard said.

She makes a terrible poster girl for all things anti-Perry, true.

Even if she weren’t this bad, Perry acted lawfully, and the indictment is political and a disgrace.

The same was done to KBH and Tom Delay.

Perry didn’t “threaten,” he used his constitutional line item veto authority to zero out the budget for the Travis County’s Public Integrity section, previously headed by the lesbian ‘RAT cockroach DA, and used for decades to conduct political prosecutions of Republicans. Lehmberg is shameless, entitled, vicious, and unfit for public service. However, she has been embedded in the DA’s office in various capacities since 1976.

The fact that Axelrod, an Obama mouthpiece who doesn’t utter a word without Valerie Jarrett’s approval, said the indictment was ‘sketchy,’ leads me to believe Hillary Clinton’s hoof prints are on this. It’s typical Clinton scorched-earth strategy as their political machine rolls toward 2016.

The Democrats will regret sending Rosemary Lehmberg out to do their dirty work. The Youtube videos and pictures tell a disturbing story about a very nasty lesbian DA (drunken attorney).

Even the mainstream media can’t spin this fast enough to make it look reasonable or just. Hopefully, the right wing pundits will link this story to the endless “John Doe” investigation of Scott Walker in Wisconsin.

I am with Perry on this one but if we are going to use over-drinking as a barometer for public officials, how many do you think will be left? Not to mention those that have abused drugs.

Very few critics of politics would survive that barometer, either. Same goes for those of us who post here.

You can't *make* them do it.However at least some states (if not most) have laws that say if you refuse your license is automatically suspended for "X" number of months/years.

Her main problem is her attitude. Yes, she endangered the lives of other motorists but thankfully was collared before she killed a carload of kids. Her abusive behavior after arrest as well as her refusal to step down from a taxpayer funded position in a PUBLIC INTEGRITY office are the real issue.

A fat old drunk lesbian - well, it is Austin so there's millions of those here, but really, this entitlement mentality of the statists is really unacceptable. Had this drunk been in the private sector, it would have been rehab or immediate termination

Just as Clinton's impeachment trial was not about sex, this is not about drinking. It is about the District Attorney in charge of the State's Public Integrity Unit using her position to enable life-threatening behavior - driving drunk to the point of unconsciousness on the wrong side of the road - and, when apprehended, pulling the "Do you know who I am?" card to try to get out of jail.

"decades to conduct political prosecutions of Republicans"

The unit has prosecuted many corrupt officials thru the years, including democrats. But most are not high profile.

So if you try to make the argument that the corrupt official unit is itself corrupt because it prosecuted 2 high profile republicans, the numbers overwhelm your argument.

If you try to say the prosecution of Tom Delay was corrupt or political in nature, that doesn't hold water either. The campaign money was laundered and the men that worked for Delay pled guilty and were convicted.

Delay's defense was that he didn't do it, didn't know about it, the other men did it on their own.

So in the initial trial, Delay was convicted, and he appealed to the 3rd Court of Appeals, who overturned the conviction.

Then Lehmberg appealed the 3rd courts decision to the State Court Of Criminal Appeals, which is the highest criminal court in Texas. They agreed to hear the case.

When Lehmberg had her "episode", Perry saw the chance to put an end to Delay's prosecution.

Perry first threatened to veto/cut off all funding to the Public Corruption Unit. Then he met with Lehmberg and said he would find her another job if she would resign because if she resigned, Perry could appoint here replacement and he would appoint someone who would squash the Delay prosecution.

Lehmberg refused that deal so Perry went ahead and vetoed/cut off all funding to the unit which would end the Delay prosecution. But the county came up with some money to keep a scaled back unit operating.

It wasn’t “overdrinking.”

It was driving while intoxicated. Very intoxicated.

Police arrested her after another motorist called 911.

Video/audio shows that the cops didn’t even know who she was until after she made a fool of herself during the field sobriety test.

From a link in the article

Update: In case you want to give Lehmberg the benefit of the doubt, here is what her blood alcohol level was at the time of her arrest and booking, according to her attorney, David Sheppard.

-- snip --

At the time of her arrest on Friday, April 12, Lehmberg refused to provide a breath test or blood sample when she was arrested for drunken driving, requiring deputies to obtain a judge-approved search warrant, according to court documents.

Results from a blood sample analyzed by the Texas Department of Public Safety found that she had a blood alcohol level of .239.

With all due respect, this is not correct.

In Austin, if you don’t agree to a blood test voluntarily, they will take blood out of your arm whether you like it or not.

This means FORCIBLY!

They TAKE your drivers license and KEEP IT! It’s gone forever.

Your license is then suspended for 90 days except you can get written permission to drive during certain hours of the day which are tailored to allow you to drive to your work.

If it is your second DUI or higher, you will be forced to put an interlock on your vehicle. Then they charge you monitoring fees. The interlock is by design VERY DIFFICULT to use and costs hundreds of dollars to install and maintain.

Austin is, or has been, # 1 in DUI convictions.

Most people I know now have the policy of simply not going to downtown restaurants and bars. The cops are VERY aggressive on this high revenue DUI enforcement in the downtown area. Recently, lol, several cops have been arrested for DUI.

My personal rule is not one drop and then touch a steering wheel. It’s designated driver, cab, drink at a hotel bar and then walk up to your room, or just don’t go.
