Rosemary Lehmberg parody
Self | 8-19-14 | wontbackdown

I wrote this parody, sung to the tune of MTA by the Kingston Trio.
Sing it yourself and enjoy, or better yet get some guitar pickers and singers and have a jam session.

Rosemary Lehmberg song

Let me tell you the story of Rosemary Lehmberg
The Travis County DA
Pulled over by the cops for driving drunk
And they hauled that woman away

Did she ever resign
No she never resigned
Though she got a DWI
(She had vodka in her car)
She will drive forever through the streets of Austin
She's the drunk who wouldn't resign

Well all night long she bullied her jailers
Belligerent as she could be
She was making ugly faces
And kicking the door
Being filmed for the world to see

Did she ever resign
No she never resigned
Though she got a DWI
(She had vodka in her car)
She will drive forever through the streets of Austin
She's the drunk who wouldn't resign

All you citizens of Austin
Don't you think it's a scandal
That you have a drunk DA
And you better be careful when you're out on the streets
Because she might be driving your way

Did she ever resign
No she never resigned
Though she got a DWI
(She thinks she's above the law)
She will drive forever through the streets of Austin
She's the drunk who wouldn't resign

instrumental break

Ms. Lehmberg heads up the County Unit
Of Public Integrity
She's a shining example of blatant corruption
in the Democrat party.

Did she ever resign
No she never resigned
Though she got a DWI
(She had vodka in her car)
She'll be known forever as the shame of Austin
She's the drunk who wouldn't resign

Then one day in a vindictive maneuver
by Public Integrity
They indicted Governor Perry for trying to remove
The disgraceful Rosemary.

Did she ever resign
No she never resigned
Though she got a DWI
(Governor Perry will prevail)
She'll be known forever as the shame of Austin
She's the drunk who wouldn't resign

She's the drunk who wouldn't resign
She's the drunk who wouldn't resign
She's the drunk who wouldn't resign
She's the drunk who wouldn't resign

Except Lemburgh was the head of the STATE not the County bureau of public integrity.

OK, I can’t edit this so I’ll make a note to change that lyric.

Outstanding!! However, I needed a bass to sing the “Just like Paul Revere” part. It’s impossible for one person to sing it as it should sound.

I would love to hear a version done with instruments in Kingston Trio fashion. Ping me if someone takes the initiative to do that.

Really enjoyed hearing that again. It’s funny how the mind works. It’s been decades since I’ve heard that song, yet I remembered and was able to sing along with every single word. So, why can’t I remember what I had for breakfast this morning? (...sigh...)

Yes, I would love for someone to take this parody and run with it. That’s why I posted the lyrics, hoping someone would sing it and maybe even record it for a YouTube. The more it sounds like the Kingston trio the better. The lines in parentheses are the bass parts. If someone wants to play and sing it in a YouTube go for it! You have my permission.
