Rick Perry Becomes the 2016 GOP Frontrunner (you have to watch the ad in the story!)

Rick Perry has been on a subtle campaign since November of 2012, and he has done it well. The Texas Governor has wooed away companies from multiple states by showing off the energetic business environment, he has engaged in national political discussions through videos, social media, and op-eds, and he has kept his name, and more importantly, the record of the state he governs, in the news.

But now we have the news of two criminal indictments.

Leading Conservatives Gather For Republican Leadership Conference In New OrleansThis indictment is filled with the distilled essence of progressive projection. An out of control county DA gets drunk and makes a decision to drive, then she is caught and arrested. This DA, who was found to be intoxicated three times the legal limit, attempted to use her title to not only coerce the police to let her go, but to threaten the police for locking her drunk ass up.

Coercion and threats of retribution. That’s what the DA who is at the center of this case did. That is what the Travis County DA is charging Perry with.

How perfectly Orwellian this all is.

I know some are worried that the indictment of Governor Perry, and the subsequent mug shot, will be the stumbling block that preemptively ends his bid for 2016, but I am not convinced.

This indictment plays to Perry’s strengths, not only his serious retail politics skills, which this will allow him to display, but also a naturally conservative but truly populist opinion that some drunk shouldn’t be in charge of jack, especially when drawing a salary from the taxpayers.

I can imagine Perry defending himself on the campaign trail, but I really don’t have to, RickPAC already has an ad up that lays out the case pretty well.

I've been backing him from Day One.

His first time out was rough. He has the same speaking problem as myself...too much on his mind. Needs notes to keep on track. I got better but it took a looooong time. Now when I speak...everyone listens.

The Dems want him out of the race...so I'm sure there's a lot more cr** to come out of those roaches.

I think Rick Perry is the ONLY candidate that is suitable to both the GOP-e and conservatives.

He is NOT my favorite at all. But he is acceptable.

Cruz / Palin / Walker / Paul could beat the suitpants off of Clinton. Perry lacks debating skills.

I've backed Perry for some things and screamed at him for others, but this is just pure BS.

This hag managed shield herself from the Texas Codes (that say intoxication is a reason for removal) and find a judge that would let her keep her job. Now she wants to indict the Governor for doing his?

It's the Governor's job to protect the State, and the State no longer has confidence in the 'Integrity Unit' because everything they have done or will do as long as this woman in in charge can be called into question.

Can you imagine the legal Hell that will create on any convictions or even prosecutions they're involved in? And the State will wind up paying for most of it!

Perry’s quite serious about cutting the EPA, NEA etc budgets to the bone.

Destroying the beurocracy in DC will solve a lot of our problems.

I liked him in 2012. Unfortunately, he was recovering from back surgery during the primary and didn’t acquit himself well on the campaign trail and in the debates. Besides, Romney was the “anointed” one. No one else needed to apply.

I could get behind Rick big time.
He’s a “cut through the BS” kind of guy.

I've never been a really big fan of Perry, but if it comes down to him vs. GOPer's like Jeb, Mitt, Huck, Christie, then I'll be on board.

There is one thing that Rick would do: unleash the power of the American energy industry.

I'm pinging dfwgator to return me to my senses...lol.

I think the democrats scheme is to demonize the idea of using the power of the purse to defund anything. They NEVER want any area of the government starved of funds (unless is the defense department of course).

We saw this with the British, when the colonial assemblies refused to pay the royal governors, the King removed that power and paid them directly, pulling the teeth out of the power of the people.

They’ve done it on the Federal level, with the senate and the president teaming up to remove the power of the purse from the House. Harry Reid refused to pass a budget for five years, and we’ve been running on continuing resolutions so that nothing can be cut, then Reid says it’s all or nothing on bills from the House, refusing to consider individual bills, and forcing a government shutdown.

This is all part of an organized plot to dismantle the checks to the government leviathan. And, of course, to destroy a rising conservative, so a hand-picked go-along type like Romney can win by default.

Destroying the bureaucracy in DC will solve a lot of our problems.

I know, but that's the crux of the matter.

It's almost a certainty he'll run for the nomination, the question is, will the RNC allow him to have it?

If his platform is about shrinking the government, my guess would be 'no'.

The silence from the RNC regarding the shenanigans against Perry is deafening.

Makes me think they’re in cahoots with the DNC on this.

I can definitely see myself supporting Perry. He needs to be forming alliances and lining up endorsements even this early.

I think he knows to downplay defunding this time around. Economy and immigration are all he needs to hammer. If he maintains Cruz’ support, it’s in the bag.
