U.S. to ease some deportations to Mexico under settlement

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - U.S. authorities have agreed to stop pressuring undocumented immigrants in Southern California to sign off on their own deportations under a legal settlement that may later allow some deportees to return from Mexico to seek U.S. legal residency, advocacy groups said on Wednesday.

The deal reached between the American Civil Liberties Union and federal officials stems from a lawsuit brought last year on behalf of other immigration rights groups and about 10 immigrants who accepted so-called "voluntary returns" to Mexico.

All of the immigrants had strong grounds for being allowed to remain in the United States after entering illegally because of family ties and a lack of criminal history, and they will now be permitted to present their claims in U.S. immigration court, ACLU attorneys said.

The settlement is limited in scope as most of reforms agreed to by U.S. immigration officials apply only in Southern California, where the ACLU documented what it said were deceptive and coercive practices dating back to 2009.

The reforms include allowing undocumented immigrants access to a telephone and two hours to reach a legal adviser before deciding whether to sign a voluntary return form waiving their rights to seek a hearing to challenge their deportation.

If the ultimate goal is to remove ALL deportation orders, and re-appearance requirements for illegals released in hopes they re-appear for their deportation hearings, from the system and allow them to stay indefinitely...

Then I demand they fire every single immigration judge in the system, because we sure as hell are not going to need those schmups anymore, right???

I thought the Kenyan boy and his pal, Eric the Holder already shut down all deportations. How the heck are those two fags going to “ease” deportations any more than they already have? This is BS.

How about this, you voluntarily deport or put on this blindfold and stand by that wall.

Taken a step further, we no longer need US Border Agents since enforcement is off the table and the Texas National Guard is no longer needed to look busy on the border either. Obama, in effect, is cavitating the laws regarding immigration and border security all while playing golf. Besides, we all belong to Meheeco now. Their el presidente sez so.

Is this another one of those court “settlements” where the DOJ rolls over to achieve a result that it favors?

A BLLSHT SETTLEMENT

Justice said to the ACLU to sue us this particular way so we can get what we both want. IOW Justice Department needed to be sued to alter this legal item

This is complete 100% collusion between Justice Dept and the ACLU. This was not two antagonists suing each other

Sometimes I just want to say “**** it,” and move to my ancestral homeland of Ireland and live out my years in County Mayo.

YES!!!!  Without knowing any details I assure that Justice Department told the ACLU to sue them so we can both get our objectives
The EPA does this on all the time. Collision between the EPA and leftist lawyer eco-groups. The EPA points out something that they want to be sued on then reaches a phony "settlement" that achieves both parties objectives

100% charade---- 100% kabuki theater done for the American sheeple

Aren’t judges supposed to stomp on these charades, which make a mockery of the legal system by establishing false precedent? (I know, they’re corrupt, too, for the most part).

As far as I can guess..... Since it is an out of court settlement judges rarely intervene. This settlement fine tunes some Federal regulations in away that makes the ACLU, The Justice Department and La Raza very happy

These people will not stop on their own until they've brought down the sh*tstorm they clearly want for this country.

They hate us and want to destroy us. Why is that so hard for many to grasp.

In the old days, the KKK did the Democrats’ dirty work-now it’s the ACLU.

Border agents can be transitioned to pursers on this big ship Titanic as it sinks under the weight of the third world migration.

There’s nothing more to do or say. Obama, the King of Cheat, allowed a coup. No wonder he didn’t swear on a Bible at his inauguration, he had no intention of keeping ANY promises...ever.

When was the last time that our government actually served and did something needed and helpful for we the people? They spend our money and use it to help global corporations, other countries and illegal immigrants.
