EU, U.S. Condemn State Land Designation

Israel was again condemned on Tuesday over its decision to declare 4,000 dunams of land in Judea, mostly in Gush Etzion, as state land, with the European Union (EU) and the U.S. State Department being the latest ones to issue condemnations.

"We condemn the new appropriation of land in the West Bank, relating to plans for further settlement expansion, announced by the Israeli government on Sunday,” said the EU in a statement.

“Settlements are illegal under international law, constitute an obstacle to peace and threaten to render the two-state solution impossible. The EU reiterates that it will not recognize any changes to the pre-1967 borders, including with regard to Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the parties,” the statement continued.

“At this delicate moment, any action that might undermine stability and the prospect of constructive negotiations following the ceasefire in Gaza should be avoided.

“We call on the Israeli authorities to reverse this decision and to engage in good faith towards a lasting peace based on a two-state solution," concluded the EU statement.

Dear Jen, Bonky, EU, UN, US, et al.:

See that photo up there on top of the article? That's what's called a trampiada, or hitch hiking station. It's also where all the buses stop. I have 'tramped' and caught buses there. Two soldiers or more are always posted right nearby. Over across the street, next to the Kiryat Arba-bound trampiada/tachana, there are three piles of stones, erected for three teenagers who were hitch hiking there during the second intifada, and were gunned down by an AK.

It was not the first, nor the last such incident at Gush Etzion. In fact, back in 1948, the entire town of Kfar Etzion was massacred while British officers looked on, the few survivors taken to Hebron. There an angry mob waited to lynch them, but the Mukhtar of Hebron at the time put them under his protection and got them transferred alive to Israeli custody. That act of decency was the exception that proved the rule.

I know the grandson of one of those few survivors. He now lives in Gush Etzion, where the IDF has threatened to tear his house down.

I am rambling. I know. But the bottom line is, Gush Etzion belongs to us, and in equal measure, we belong to it. You did not give us our land. It is not yours to give or take away. So take your "condemnations" and your opinions about our tiny country's sovereignty, and shove them up your bong holes. Whatever we do, you're against it. So who cares?

Israel’s leaders must come to the realization that demographic changes in the West, a woeful ignorance of history in general and the Holocaust in particular is lessening the support that Israel once had and was critical for its survival. Today the average person has no understanding of strategic realities. They have no idea what Hamas is and despite the fact they lunched thousands of rockets and mortars indiscriminatelt into Israel , there were no visuals to make an impression. They were affected however by vivid scenes of Gaza destruction and civilian casualties. The problem is that Israel’s leaders no longer seem to care about Western public opinion when they announce a land confiscation. No doubt they made a huge strategic error when they allowed the formation of a self governing militarized adjacent enclave of nearly two million hostile Palestinians. If they make an even more grievous mistake in alienating their non Jewish Western supporters, Israel’s situation will worsen.

What about when BJ Clinton signs legislation creating a National Monument in southern Utah? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Staircase-Escalante_National_Monument

Is that taking equally worthy of condemnation? It was a lot more of a taking, so where is the “outrage”?

No problem. We will not alienate religious Christians and people with common sense. Bonky, Kerry, BHO et al., however, are not with us in the first place.

Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. Are you sure the West is owned by China? They might be owned by Saudi Arabia and/or Iran. Perhaps there are SEC filings we can use to settle this bet?

Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. That was a sale, to the Riadhi family in consideration for their illegal contributions, so they could corner the US market in low-sulfer coal.

I’m sure the US and the EU and the UN did not speak to Israel’s leaders before making their judgement.

No. That might upset the ‘very delicate situation’. Generally, when international types say ‘very delicate situation’ and talk about how it requires ‘sensitive handling,’ it’s high time to put on some really big boots and stomp around.

EU headquarters has obvious nazis, as does the second outfit cited. Israel has a right to her land and these meddlesome enemies will just be “ diplomatically” ignored. That’s the nice way foreign ministries have of telling their enemies to go to hell.

You got that right! As long as we're here, we stand with Israel!

Well, I am a non Jewish Western supporter, and I think Israel has found a positive tactic -- they (Israel) just need to explain and defend it vociferously and often, in the media.

For every rocket, Israel will bite off a small chunk of Palestinian land. Say, a few hectares. For every Israeli death at the hands of terrorists, bite off a bigger chunk (100 hectares?) Or at the very least, render said areas unusable for the next 50 years or so.
