NEW ORLEANS (AP) A federal judge has upheld Louisiana's ban on same-sex marriages, as well as the state's refusal to recognize gay marriages legally performed in other states.
U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman's ruling Wednesday ...said gay marriage supporters failed to prove that the ban violates equal protection or due process provisions of the Constitution.
Feldman agreed ...that states have the right to define marriage.

Well I’ll be damned.
States get to define marriage, and heterosexual marriage doesn’t violate equal protection.
If you’ve got states defining marriage, then they can make it illegal for incestuous marriage, polygamy, forced, etc.
Nice this is another issue lil Mary will HAVE to take the wrong side on. :-)
A Reagan appointee. Shows what can happen when we have a REAL President.
Or as they say in the South, butter my butt and call me a biscuit!
I hope this judge has security. The gay mafia is vengeful.
Louisiana isn’t thrilled with US Senators who support homosexual marriage.
Very good. Glad to see not all of the judiciary have decided to accept the mark.
This nasty, little Communist is not happy.
She says: "It's re-education camp for you, homophobes!"
You're right, of course -- there is no self-designated victim group so intolerant, so vicious in their bullying and so self-centered at the homafia.
The F@G.com‘ers will be up in arms over this!
FINALLY a federal judge makes the CORRECT ruling on this issue. I'm pretty sure the rest of them have all done the left's bidding and struck down traditional marriage laws by citing some non-existent constitutional "right" to marriage.
What's baffling to me is so many people on our side are always yapping about how states should have more influence over the federal government, but they agree with the left in picking almost exclusively FEDERAL judges and officials to be appointed to seats on the US Supreme Court. Then they whine when some allegedly "originalist" federal judge who has been in the beltway for 30+ years moves leftward while serving as SCOTUS judge.
Why not choose SCOTUS judges the way we choose Presidents and select mostly STATE supreme court judges as SCOTUS material?
An answer to prayer. Thank you, God.
Very good! Finally, a Federal Judge who understands the law.
(”Judge” Vaughn Walker’s corruption should haunt him endlessly).
Now with all the other Fed Judges who have said gay marriage bans are unconstitutional, will the Supremes FINALLY hear a case and settle this once and for all?
I fear the outcome of a neutral/liberal biased court, but as long as Kennedy doesn’t stray off into a penumbra or obscure reference, it should be 5-4 declaring states have the right to regulate marriage. That way, all the homo and lesbians can concentrate in the Leftist states, leaving tradition values states alone!
Ah, shoot! Who am I kidding? The Left NEVER gives up. They’ll bring it back once the court changes persons.
This is why folks, the 2016 election better not go to a democrat.
Reagan comes through once again.
25.5 years after he left office, the man’s influence still impacts the nation.
On the dark side, Obama will leave office in 2017. 25.5 years after that will be 2052.
Obama and Holder are preparing a press conference on how this judge is “gaycist”.
FINALLY! A win for the side of reason and God.
Let’s go SCOTUS. Decide this once and for all.
Heh, good one.
Wait...this isnt the Onion?! Not April first????
What type of black magic is this??
I’m not an LSU fan but I am a Louisiana fan until the day they too give in to that “same-sex” marriage nonsense.
THAT is why you fight these things out in the courts, Tom Corbett
Praise God. This is nice to read. Although, it’s not a ban...
Sounds like we has us a legal-like Mexican standoff.
Thank you, Mr. President!
Of course the states should have the power to define marriage. There is no such thing as a federal marriage license.
Reagan also nominate O’Connor and Kennedy, neither was a reliable conservative vote.
Everyone has the right to marry the opposite sex. No discrimination what so ever.!!
The Fifth Circuit already has the Texas decision on appeal. If it decides that case for gay marriage, this new decision will be nullified. One Circuit will have to decide against gay marriage to force the Supremes to take cert. (They could still take cert on the cases already decided, they just don’t have to do it.)
Darn. Wrong LA.
The rule of law is not completely dead yet. We may not have much time, but we do have at least a little time.
The thick plottens...
Do you mean: The thick heads are now plotting?
(((YAWN)))) What else is new. These stories about homosexual and pedophile “judges” are getting old.
And not everyone is permitted to be married: no incest, no polygamy, no bestial marriages, etc. So, there is good reason for folks to be denied marriage. 1. disease and body abuse, 2. marriage is safety net for women and children (see poverty level of unwed mothers), 3. it makes the community more dangerous...heightened risk of child abuse, 4. no reason for government financial benefits to those who have warm feelings for each other, there is for those with kids, and there are others.
Read it again....the judge, a Reagan appointee, said homosexual marriage was NOT ok.
They have the same rights as us, exactly the same rights when it comes to marriage.
Thank you Judge for actually saying how the constitution works .
Second state to do it, after Tennessee. I hope he’s prepared for the Supreme jerkoffs to nullify his correct Constitutionalism.
If this was about marriage then why do homosexuals move to the south and then demand to be married and then do their lawsuits?
They have exactly the same rights as us in marriage.
We cannot marry the same sex, nor can they, however we can marry the opposite sex as they can.
The judge was spot on, about equal protections
Sounds like good news, but how is it distinguished in substance from the USSC’s holding when it threw out DOMA?
Oh, I get it. The DOMA case said DOMA can’t be used to invalidate state law legalizing same sex marriage. This case says that states have the right to outlaw same sex marriage.
If you are a corporate president or vice president, probably best if you use an assumed name in posting support for this ruling.
finally. we won one. praise God!
Can't argue with that, but at least they were a little better than Kagan or the wise Latina.
Also, he does get extra credit for Scalia.
One Federal judge upholds gay marriage ban, another one decides it is unconstitutional.
Is it possible to have a union where one set of laws regarding marriage is recognized in some states but not others?
How about each state gets to decide for itself
This guy needs a monument named in his honor right now before it gets over turned.
