Democratic nominee Chad Taylor drops out of Kansas Senate race

Democratic nominee Chad Taylor dropped out of the race for U.S. Senate in Kansas on Wednesday, an 11th hour move that could clear the way for his party to rally behind and independent candidate and potentially change the math in the battle for the Senate majority.

Taylor, who raised little money and had not gained traction in the campaign, submitted a letter to the Kansas secretary of state's office that said he was withdrawing from the contest, without providing any further information. An e-mail to his spokesman seeking more information on why he bowed out was not immediately returned.

The move, which came on the last day for ballot changes, could clear the way for Democrats to rally behind Greg Orman, an independent candidate who has left the door open to caucusing with both parties if elected. Orman, who used to be a Democrat and a Republican, has been viewed as a more viable opponent against Sen. Pat Roberts (R), who polls show is vulnerable. Orman has raised a lot more money than Taylor.

Yup, let's keep a 78 year old party hack! That's the ticket to victory.

Greg Orman and Chad Taylor were in cahoots from the get go. Taylor had no intention of running and has raised no money. This was a scheme to convert liberal Republicans to what they have been all along: Democrats. Orman is the Democrat candidate, no doubt, but he will try and fool the people of Johnson County long enough to get elected. Then he will have a vision, and join the Democrat Party.

The RINO LaPolice who tried to primary Huelskamp was claiming Huelskamp voted for the NDAA

Democrat Travis Childers is probably equal to Cochran on amnesty. Childers is more conservative than Orman.

Orman is pro-amnesty and Roberts is backed by Kobach.

Cochran deserves to lose more than Roberts. Also if Roberts is re-elected it will be easier to primary the more RINO and more Mitch-connected Jerry Moran.

“Our policy must be practical. It’s just not practical to say that we’re going to find and send back to other countries 11 million undocumented people. We’ve got whole industries in Kansas that would go away if we attempted to introduce such an unworkable policy. Towns like Dodge City and Garden City and much of the agricultural community in Kansas would be absolutely devastated.

Finally, our policy must also be fair to taxpayers. The 11 million undocumented individuals in America should be required to register with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) by a certain date, pay a fine or perform community service as an acknowledgment that they’ve broken the law, hold down a job, pay taxes, and obey our laws, and ultimately, at that point, if they want to get in line and apply for citizenship, they should be able to do so. Once we’ve done that, we should fully implement the e-verify system and hold employers accountable for hiring undocumented workers who have not registered with ICE.”

That Huelskamp was a RINO because he voted for the NDAA. While LaPolice was pro-amnesty, pro-Boehner and was liberal on all other issues.

Mike Enzi was the more conservative choice out of him and Cheney especially on immigration.

Orman will probably try the same on Roberts who was part of Jeff Sessions gang of 15 who refused to open debate while conservatives like Ron Johnson flirted with amnesty.

The Washington Post actually said “rally behind and independent candidate”?

I thought they still employed proofreaders!

Republicans get defeated because, generally, they are liberal, like the Dems.

I'm not republican, I'm conservative. I won't vote for any liberal, even with an R behind the name.

So you're going to vote for the one-who-will-caucus-with-everyone candidate?

That sounds helpful in the struggle to make Congress more accountable, responsible, and to be honest, more CONSERVATIVE...that's what we all want here, right?!

Let me know how that works out...LOL!

My non-vote for a leftist Republican equates supporting a leftist Independent or Democrat, how?

This is a conservative Forum, not a "Rah-Rah Go Republicans Go" Forum.

If I was that powerful, I'd put a clamp on your nonsensical rants.

No, you, and the liberal republican enablers are responsible for the destruction of America. You own it.

YOU are the reason the republicans became liberal. You rewarded liberal republicans with your vote.

I won't vote for any liberal, especially republican liberals.

who polls show is vulnerable

"Polls" may be the one poll by the Democrats, which looks like an outlier. The three polls by organizations that one might have actually heard of show Roberts leading, according to RCP. He's below 50% in tow of the polls -- but I just can't see Kansas electing a 'rat to the Senate -- even one dressed in Republican clothing.

Orman will not be caucusing with the Republicans, he’s a Democrat. This move has been planned by liberal Republicans who are trying to revive the Democrat Party in Kansas. If they can deliver this seat, they will be given the Kansas Democrat Party and will be back in business. The abortion business, that it. That’s what this is about.
