A bit of grandstanding by Sen. Kirk, but I guess that's ok, though we don't need more laws. We already have a law against participating in foreign boycotts. Even BDS acknowledges they're a palestinian movement, foreign.
In 2005, Palestinian civil society issued a call for a campaign of boycotts, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel until it complies with international law and Palestinian rights. A truly global movement against Israeli Apartheid is rapidly emerging in response to this call. - See more at: http://www.bdsmovement.net/#sthash.SVZ0wT7L.dpuf
We have an Office of Boycott Enforcement in the Commerce Department. They note among the violations Agreements to refuse or actual refusal to do business with or in Israel or with blacklisted companies. The problem is enforcement. Kind of like passing a law requiring our Embassy be moved to Jerusalem. Neither this nor the prior 2 administrations have done anything about the Embassy, this and the prior one about BDS. As to Rauner's proposal to divest from companies refusing to do business with Israel, better push for enforcement.
I don’t need another damn politician to tell me something’s wrong!
It’s less about who Steven Salaita opposes (Israel) and more about who he supports(terrorists).
I’ll bet this causes the Jewish vote for Quinn to drop to 90%.
Quinn is a doofus, but he’s pretty adept at stradling the fence with no apparent ill-effects (nothing to damage). So I’m sure he’ll try to find a way to be for and against this at the same time.
Sad but true. I just wonder why they’re so surprised, so caught off-guard. The left has made it clear for decades where they stand on Israel, and I know that even though Jewish leftists will let that pass, even they couldn’t possibly let the accompanying escalation in anti-Semitism pass.
Of course the Jews are responsible for anti-semitism - if there were no Jews, there would be no anti-semitism.
Jewish jews already are against him. Unfortunately the best jews perished in the Shoah. The opposite of the Spanish expulsion

“...even they couldnt possibly let the accompanying escalation in anti-Semitism pass.”
Don’t bet on it, it’s nothing new and hasn’t reduced their percentage of the Jewish vote yet.
(Oh yeah - and white liberal elites... who carry all the power but don't have the numbers to elect a dog catcher... then there's the paid for astroturf trolls... who will take any side they're told to take...)
Get used to this as the American Left continues aping the Nazi Left in its increasing and open Jew-hatred and scapegoating. Dangerous waters ahead.
And many in the American Right as well e.g.Pat Buchanan
The base of the Democrat Party contains the most vicious anti-Semites in the USA -— a quick perusal of the Democrat Underground shows this -—they even have a special moderator and posting area for this because people get so nasty so quickly.
I am happy for these kind of events because I think my small and scattered tribe might wake up sooner than I could have hoped. Not optimistic, but it is looking more likely each day.
Pat’s a fringe.
He appears with fellow anti-Semites on MSNBC and pretty much no where else.
Buchanan put the USA before all and that’s anti-Semitic to some.
When Jim Webb narrowly beat George Allen to become senator from Virginia, he had overwhelming support from Muslims in Virginia. Without Webb in the Senate, Obamacare would not have passed. So we can thank the Muslims for Obamacare.
Unfortunately a Democrat in Illinois has to do something one helluva lot worse that that to get voted out.
