"What on EARTH has Jeb Bush done to deserve a nomination"

He was a popular FL governor and the most likely to win that state. If the GOP candidate can't win FL, he can't win.

Looking at the Tier 1 EV states, the dem candidate will win NY(29) and CA(55) for a total of 84 EV. The GOP candidate will win TX for 38 EV

If the GOP candidate wins FL(29), he is behind 84 to 67, but that is close enough that he can make it up in the Tier 2 and Tier 3 states.

If the dem candidate wins FL(29), he is ahead 113 to 38 and the GOP candidate is so far behind, he can't make it up in the Tier 2 and Tier 3 states

Me too.

Alan West/Ted Cruz or Mike Lee would be my picks.

We need a Ret. Military man to take on this ISSI problem, not some one who never served a day in the Military. Maybe then we get rid of some of these STUPID ROE’s that are getting to many of our men and women KIA or maimed for life. And to stop the destruction of our Military by 0.

Ret. Senior Chief’s Wife.

I hate to say it, but if you added Mitt Romney, there would be a whole different lineup. I would vote for him ahead of Bush and most of the rest of them, I think many Republicans would. (And I’m not a big Romney fan)

Was this a nationwide poll of 376 NPR listeners?

Jeb Bush isn't in the lead. Not decided has a commanding lead. That tells me that the RINO pre-ordained aren't getting any more support than Rand Paul is.

That's not going to be the spin, of course.

Good list.

Perry - MSM won’t let go of his awful debate stumble in the 2012 prelims - he has been Dan Quayled.

Santorum - MSM could keep him in long enough to split the party’s wings - ideological purity won’t overcome political pragmatism - perhaps a complex form of voter suppression.

Jindal - seeing some recent resurgence.

Scott Walker (if interested in the job) is very tested in taking on / beating the left on lightning rod, nationalized issues - would finish above Jindal. He knows how to govern too.

Ben Carson - not mentioned in the original poll, should be added, but he won’t get close to the nod. He’s running though.

Part of the reason Jeb Bush is near top at the moment is name recognition.

Media would love to see a Bush - Clinton contest. To cover Hillary’s lifetime of public, chronic lying, the theme would be - does this country want a return to the Clinton years of prosperity or the Bush years of war and devastation? Low Info Voters (LIVs), No Info Voters (NIVs) and young people who came of voting age during the Bush years (No Memory Voters (NMV)) would coalesce around Clinton.

I think a Perry/Walker ticket would be very effective. Particularly if Walker can delivery WI. You have a Gov/Gov ticket running against declared Senators. It neutralizes Cuomo if he runs. Perry puts energy front and center. The DNC will collect money from Wall Street, not main street. Walker is very attractive to Midwesterners.

Ideally, we’d see 8 years of Perry followed by 8 years of Walker and a GOP controlled Congress. They could undo a lot of harm.
