Poor and middle-income Americans are reaching deeper into their pockets when donating to charity, while the nation’s wealthiest are giving less, according to a report by Chronicle of Philanthropy that analyzed taxpayers’ IRS data.

On average, Americans give about 3 percent of their income to charity each year, according to the report released Monday. But the giving gap between the rich and poor is significant, especially in view of the widening income gap. The report shows those who earned $200,000 or more donated 4.6 percent less of their income between 2006 and 2012; those who earned less than $100,000 gave 4.5 percent more.

Good works do not save us, but they often show the intent of our hearts.

No wonder Obama wants to get rid of charitable deductions on income tax.

I find it very interesting that a majority of the most generous states are the states that are hated by the left and not really liked by the establishment.

Even these numbers are skewed. There are Liberal organizations like the Clinton Global Initiative and Al Sharpton's National Action Network that are considered charities.

There was an episode of Celebrity Jeopardy a few years ago that Bob Woodward appeared on. I think he ended up with -20,000 dollars or something like that.

The producers of Jeopardy awarded the losers 5,000 dollars anyway. Woodward's charity was Sidwell Friends. The school his daughter was attending.

That's right. Sidwell Friends. The 25,000 dollar a year private school the elitest of the elite in D.C. send their kids to.

No wonder Obama wants to get rid of charitable deductions on income tax.

Obama and the Democrats want to get rid of charitable tax deductions so that they are not used in comparison ads during re-elections, but MOST IMPORTANTLY, they wish to get rid of these so that those in need of help will be forced to turn to the government for handouts, instead of going to their church or to a non-profit charity or to their families, etc...!!!

Residents of Utah remain by far the nation’s most generous. For every $1,000 they earned, they donated $65.60 to charity.

Cool.

Utah is not cool at all, the Mormon religion REQUIRES you to give them 10% or else you are forbidden full religious membership and a full afterlife.

Mitt Romney, Glenn Beck, if they give less than 10% then they cannot become Gods, and their ID for entrance into those fancy (and secret) Temples, is canceled, and they cannot enter them, not even to watch a wedding (Ann’s parents had to wait outside when she married Mitt), and other members are told to not share what goes on inside with them.

Mormons are examined to prove that they are giving that 10%, or else.
