I wonder how do they count it. Probably estimates based on a numbers of historically muslim minorities (who might be currently Christians or atheists).
I was going to comment on that, Omar al Shishani, Redbeard, is the leader of the Mujahireen (Foreign fighters) of ISIS, from what I’ve read the core element of this group are the Chechens.
I’ts kind of scary given al Shishani is only 28 and a folk hero already. He is a great recruitment tool for other young muslims, esp chechens.

I don’t think that’s very likely, but ISIS has at least stated it intends to ‘liberate’ Chechenya, if they were to do something, that might provoke a Russian response against them.
