When the CDC studies the disease they recognize it as a Biosafety level hazard 4.

Let me tell you that as an ER nurse, I put on more than that much protection just when a bloody trauma patient arrives. I’ve seen people put on double that much protection just because a homeless person comes in with maggots in their wounds. I don’t know a single nurse who would dare wear so little to enter an Ebola room.
Also, the CDC guide at my work says “standard, contact, and droplet precautions” but this poster shows plan surgical masks as opposed to N95 masks, which I would want just in case that Ebola patient decides to sneeze, cough, or projectile vomit in my direction.
In the video linked above, it shows people in full protective gear, but they are disposing of waste. The people in direct contact with the patients themselves are being sent in there with WAY less protection, and that is an outrage!!!
Also, this nonsense about “most facilities can handle this” and “our healthcare workers are being trained” is BS. There have been ZERO training sessions at any of the hospitals in my town of 300,000 or at any of the surrounding rural hospitals, and we are in TEXAS! All we have is a 8x5 x 11” flyer that lists what to do if an ebola patient shows up. We don’t even have any of those posters showing how to put on and take off PPEs. Now we ask about ebola symptoms and travel out of the country (but only the patient, not close contacts who have traveled), but it just showed up on our Triage documentation screen one day, no training about it. We are NOT prepared, and the hospitals near you probably aren’t either!
