Opposing Football Teams Unite To Help A Little Fan with Down Syndrome Make the Play of the Game

Eight-year-old Gabe, featured in this video, is the younger brother of one of the players, and honorary captain of the Rhinelander’s Junior Varsity football team.

According to his older brother who posted the video to reddit, Gabe has Down Syndrome and is the Rhinelander’s biggest fan.

During the last game of the Hodag’s season, the team put Gabe into play, and orchestrated it so he would be guaranteed to score a touchdown. He is only eight, after all.

What makes it more special is that the opposing team, Mosinee, fumbled and flopped all over the field as though they were being outrun by an athlete twice their size.

Not only did the stands witness Gabe’s dream coming true, but they got to see two football teams really go the distance to make a little boy’s day. Moments like these are the ones everyone will remember.

The video is cute and very nice for both teams, but I have always thought that teams should try their best to win. Couldn’t they have done the same thing during half-time so it wouldn’t eat up game time?

Really? Dude you are waaaay too serious. Both teams learned more about life from that 2 minute act than they ever will from a lifetime of “serious” football.

Good on the Mosinee team...making it appear to the young’un that they were “after” him and not just letting him run the field...

An all around nice thing that was done by all involved.
