None the less, Morgan’s statement is factual, FWIW.

It's wrong either way. Look it up.

Common sense told me Morgan had to be wrong. I verified it. You can, too. And it's not just one or two, either. Besides, it's bullshit. Whether you call it War or Defense, combat veterans have been the head civilians in charge of the US military establishment since the founding of the Republic. Being an Irishman, Morgan probably has no clue Defense used to be called War.

So you can’t name a person who held the title Secretary of Defense who was a combat vet, and won’t admit you were wrong. Instead you changed the question. You haven’t verified anything.

He actually got serious about destroying ISIS.

Thats part of why he was asked to resign.

I haven't changed the question. Either way, Morgan is wrong. Look it up. Won't take long. And that is my final attempt at trying to get you to look up some information instead of insisting that others spoon feed it to you. Although I have actually taken you most of the way by confirming that he is wrong.

I’m not going to read the bio of every SecDef because you can’t or won’t name a name you claim to know, and it amuses you to waste my time. And it’s not just Morgan, I’ve seen that several other times in the media, so if you know different just say who.

>>Distinction without a difference

Incorrect, sir.

We had a Secretary of the Navy as well, which included the Marines. Before WWII and the creation of DoD, the President “got” the Navy (and Marines), and could generally do as he saw fit with them without a declaration of war. If the Army / Secretary of War needed to get involved, a declaration of war was seen as a requirement.

After the creation of DoD, this got all muddled, with overall poor results.
