A social media campaign calling for a boycott on spending this Black Friday has caught the attention of celebrities.
In an effort to protest the Missouri grand jury’s decision on Monday not to indict officer Darren Wilson for the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in August, US celebrities have taken to social media to use the hashtags #NotOneDime, #BlackoutFriday and #BlackoutBlackFriday to advocate for a retail boycott. They include actors Michael B. Jordan and Jesse Williams, Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler, actress Kat Graham, hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and journalist Soledad O’Brien . The hashtags are meant to encourage people to stop shopping on the biggest retail day of the year as a protest against police brutality.
The campaign was started by a grassroots group called Blackout for Human Rights, which aims to “to raise awareness that builds and maintains pressure on the instruments of power until we are satisfied that the current threat has passed.” The group has hopes to “make Black Friday (November 28, 2014) a nationwide day of action and retail boycott.”

They labor under the mistaken idea that Black Friday is a money making proposition for mega-stores like Wal Mart and Target.
They lose money on Black Friday!
The less they sell on Black Friday the more $$ they will take in during the holiday season...they have no real competitors in the marketplace.
They have to compete in the circus that is Black Friday to stay ‘in the game’ .... but they don’t enjoy it.
Every shopper that stays home for a Black Friday boycott puts money in the large retailer’s pockets.
The only way to hurt the big retailers is to convince a large number of people to not spend at all or to greatly reduce spending during the holidays...that is not likely.
This is moronic. It’s like saying, “I am offended by what Mr. Jones did, so I’ll boycott Mr. Smith’s business.”

That is my take, exactly: Those who have mega-bucks are lecturing the rest of American that they should not take advantage of bargains...
Lemme get this. If strong arm robbers and cop attackers get punished for their actions, we shouldn’t shop? So if bank robbers get shot at, we shouldn’t brush our teeth? And I suppose if car thieves get stopped by the cops, we shouldn’t even wear clothing!
Needs a hashtag. “#POQI” “People of questionable intellect” would work.
Add it to any story and so forth via Twitter when stupidity of this magnitude emerges.
First year I really feel like taking part.

So who are the celebrities? I saw a list of names but no celebrities.
Michelle Obama is their poster child?
I’m not buying anything on Black Friday or any other day, I got no money to put in anyone’s pockets
So on black Friday there will be 150,000 less gallons of Jet A fuel pumped into celebrities jets?
