The Jordanian plane that crashed in Syria was not shot down by Islamic State (IS) militants, the US says.
The plane was lost in IS territory on Wednesday morning, and the pilot has been captured.
IS militants said that they shot down the plane with a heat-seeking missile. However, the US says "evidence clearly indicates" that this is not true.
Jordan is one of four Arab states in a US-led coalition that has launched air strikes on IS targets in Syria.
The plane is the first coalition aircraft to be lost on IS territory since air strikes began in September.
IS fighters have published photographs showing the pilot being captured. They named the pilot as Flight Lieutenant Moaz Youssef al-Kasasbeh.
In a statement, the US Central Command said it strongly condemned the actions of IS, and confirmed the group "has taken captive the downed pilot".
It did not say what could have caused the plane to crash

So who to believe?
I am not sure that much matters to the Jordanian pilot. My heart and prayers go out to he and his family.
The problem is, I don’t believe anything else our government says. Why should I believe this?
Hope it wasn’t that gorgeous woman.
Hmmmmm it ran out of fuel?
Inshallah maintenance, or pilot defection? If pilot defection, I’d expect the guy to bomb Jordan, instead of ditching the plane.
I don’t trust a damn thing this administration says.
“In a statement, the US Central Command said it strongly condemned the actions of IS....”
.
The enemy shoots down a plane and we ‘strongly condemn the action’?
That is what the enemy does, you fools — it shoots down our planes if they can.
In case you guys don’t know it, we are at war. Condemning the enemy is not going to change their opinion of us.
Must have been shot down over Macho Grande.
Anyone who believes a bombing campaign is going to do anything useful is an idiot. Maybe it will knock out some of their aspirin factories, but they will just have more headaches than normal.
Hmmmm.
ISIS or US...
Hmmmm.
I give up.
WHAT. DIFFERENCE. DOES. IT. MAKE.
Depends on what the meaning of ISIS?
Expected response. The idea that OUR MISSILES, that we are supplying to the terrorists, were used to shoot down a friendly plane will not go over very well.
Who ya gonna believe?
A bearded, illiterate thoat-cutter who has been on ZERO dates in his life, or the Prez of the United States...?
Didn’t take me 1 second to know my answer...
Hmmmm.
ISIS or US...
Hmmmm.
I give up

Does that depend on what the meaning of the word ISIS IS? (thanks WJC)
Benghazi.

Hey Jordan!! You is next!!- better send in the whole f`in Jordanian army and get them ISIS roasted toasted before they get you in Jordan instead of screwin around with onesy-twosy piddly air strikes..or you`ll wind up like Assad.
