The final recount from November’s election had not even been finished when current House Speaker John Boehner blew the mandate.
How did Mr. Boehner treat the American people who just gave the Republicans a mandate?
He gave the American people and the conservative base of the GOP the middle finger.
The “CRomnibus” spending bill ...was Mr. Boehner’s way of sticking it to conservatives
On Jan. 3, a new Congress begins and one of the first orders of business in the House of Representatives is to pick a new speaker.
Mr. Boehner has repeatedly shown he is not the man to lead the House.
Conservatives cannot simply oppose Mr. Boehner. That is not a plan.
There is one conservative who has been in Congress long enough and who has a solidly conservative record.
That is Marsha Blackburn from Tennessee.
She has been in Congress since 2003. Mrs. Blackburn made a name for herself in Tennessee in 2001 and 2002. She led the fight against a liberal Republican governor (who) tried to impose a state income tax...
Mr. Boehner’s allies in the House have pushed for a rule change that would punish Republicans who vote against Mr. Boehner.
The Republicans will have 247 members in the next Congress. If 30 of these members vote against Mr. Boehner, he will not have the majority he needs to be elected speaker.
Every conservative should spend the time between now and Jan. 3 calling their Republican representatives and telling them to vote for Marsha Blackburn instead of John Boehner.
If conservatives are to turn the tide in 2015, it must be done with new leadership in Washington. Mr. Boehner can be beat but conservatives have to have a plan to do it.

Marsha Blackburn has a solid conservative record, and gives great strengths that Boehner simply lacks. In addition to her pro-life, pro-God, small government beliefs, she would be able to be a female foil to Obama’s continual playing of the race card. He wouldn’t be dealing with ‘a bunch of white guys.’
She’d also be an excellent voice in the Speaker’s chair during the 2016 presidential campaign, able to counter any whining done by Hillary or Warren.
It just won’t happen; the Republican primary voters are too complacent to do anything useful.
I don’t see how this gets done. If enough right-of-center Republicans refuse to vote for Boehner, the Democrats will.
I don’t understand your point, but no problem.
All we need to do is call our own representatives and tell them to vote “Marsha Blackburn” for Speaker and DUMP Boehner.

Sure sounds like a good plan. I’d be happy if they voted for a forked stick rather than Boehner but the Congresswoman would be a whole Universe better.
What you suggest could happen, but history has them voting for their own party. I’m not sure of the House rules. Those rules could prevent crossover and require a majority.
Marsha Blackburn from Tennessee and she is my rep. I would vote for her as speaker in a heart beat. She is one solid person with an outstanding voting record.
I think Blackburn is one of three females in the House who insist on being called ‘congressman’.
THAT would drive the liberals nuts. LOL.
Members still supporting him cannot be trusted and everyone should be contacting their representative to let them know we have no confidence in them if they follow Boehner.

So, if most of the Democrats vote "present", the absolute votes will be nearly all Republicans, and most will vote for Boehner. Or, enough Democrats can cross the aisle and vote for Boehner.
Works for me.
Your first 2 sentences should form the opening to every email/letter to every congressman. They are solid.
But we must contact our representatives SOONER rather than LATER.
Let them know we are watching.
Boehner has shown himself unreliable, maybe a turncoat, definitely a subsidiary of the chamber of commerce and the lobbyists.
