It was the phone calls and Facebook and Twitter feeds that scared Boehner and his lackeys.

That is exactly what is going to happen. This is mystery meat for the uninformed. Boehner knows full well this will get tied up in the Senate, where they will need 60 votes to end a filibuster. At the end they will fund Obama’s illegal amnesty while claiming a moral victory because there will be language in the bill that makes Obama acknowledge his actions are unconstitutional, or some such. the time to do this was when they were funding it in December.

Why does everyone refer to the effort to win an election as an attempted coup? Is the speakership a lifetime appointment or an elected office? Is Boehner some sort of Monarch or an elected representative?

Good points. Personally I favored the attempt to replace Boehner. But I did not cry when it didn't happen. It was a long shot. It took courage by those who voted against him. But a lot of good men and good women voted for Boehner and I'm not going to cry myself to sleep every night worrying about that.

We have a pretty conservative House. The Senate is much more conservative than it was in 2008. We should count our blessings and get back to work on the 2016 election.

It was a long shot.

It shouldn't have been. But the GOP and Congress are both run like the Mafia. If you don't pay protection money, then they will blow up your business. If you don't kiss the Godfather's ring, then you might wake up with your dog's head on the pillow next to you.

This is not a surrender, but a tactical retreat.

They will regroup and go after these "rebels" with guns blazing. They are just waiting for the smoke to clear.

"the time to do this was when they were funding it in December."

The funding bill could also have been blocked in the Senate, when the Rats had even MORE votes. Do you really think Reid would have let it pass?

Get back to work?
The Cromibus bill funded 99% of this years budget.

As a result the only “work” left to do are Kabuki dances, show votes
and grandstanding.

Is that your definition of “work”?

If nothing else, pass bills that will force Obama to exercise unpopular vetos. All the bills that Harry Reid has bottled up over the last 6 years to protect the Dems is now fair game. I expect this to happen.

The budget is not the whole picture. And don't forget that the Department of Homeland Security is only funded for 3 months or so. Immigration is going to be a big deal in this session of Congress.

I'm not happy with the budget vote either. But wringing our hands about it gains us nothing. We have made gains in the Senate, the House and in Public Opinion. Despite the unsatisfactory vote on the budget we do have a much more conservative Congress than we had a year ago. Count your blessings.

So you think the Democrats are going to let it pass now? I know we are supposed to cower in terror of the big, bad, “Government shutdown,” but this is all theater. The Republicans act like they can’t win so they don’t actually have to accomplish anything, which gives them an excuse not to really fight anything. But the fact is they kicked the can down the road when they should have fought, and you lose every fight you run away from. They set the omnibus fight for December simply so they could kick the can down the road.

Kabuki dances, show votes and grandstanding is not work.

But that is exactly what you described in your post.

"you lose every fight you run away from."

You mean like the British at Dunkirk? If you will recall, they finally won the war. If you wish to pull a Don Quixote and tilt at every windmill you see, fine, but I would choose a more strategic path to victory. If you will also recall, Don Quixote was a looser.

Kabuki dances, show votes and grandstanding is not work.

What is your alternative? We want to add conservatives to the Senate and House and elect a conservative GOP President in 2016. Kabuki dances help. Show votes help. Grandstanding helps.

Obama is not going to let anything go through that angers his liberal base. It is going to be mostly show for the next two years. We need to focus on 2016.

Crying doesn't work. 3rd Party initiatives are a waste of time and money. Staying home on election day is defeatist.

But, I'm willing to listen.

What would you suggest?

My objection is that you called it work.

It is theatre, nothing more.

I don’t care to watch theatre, I like action.
When the GOP was given a chance to act with the Cromibus bill, they folded like cheap suits.

If you like watching theatre, just say that.
Don’t try to wrap what the GOP will be doing for the next two years as work.
It is not work.

PS, to answer your question.

I’d be happy if the did not pass another bill for 2 years.

I remember your passion for Chris McDaniels. And how many of us agreed
that the GOP trashed him.

I’m originally from the MS. Delta.

Because of the way the GOP screwed McDaniel and conservatives,
along with the Cromibus bill and the vote for Bonehead as speaker,
I no longer believe the GOP is fixable from within.
DC corrupts them faster than we can send them.

So I have become very cynical of what the GOP does...and fails to do.

McDaniel would have been an awesome Senator.
