Just as colleges raised the tuition and fees when the government got into student loans (like most other corporations) they will again for this. What they need to do is come up with a psych test to assess who will survive to graduate. How about college boot camp?
IMHO, the only reason Obama made this proposal was to make the Republicans say no, and then he'll have an issue to use to demonize the Republican Congress with his low information (sumfin fo nuffin) voters.
So Tennessee already pays...I will tell you if there is something that follows the old saw “where there’s a will, there’s a way” it’s a college education. I know people who did it six and nine hours at a time, they found ways to pay, they lived with a little less luxury. I met a recent graduate who negotiated a 68K annual salary for her first job. It took her 4 1/2 years, taking classes in Summer, using online classes, keeping in constant contact with college faculty and staff and cobbling together part time jobs that wouldn’t affect her attendance.
You can throw whatever money you want into the pool, however, if someone isn’t willing to put effort into the items in the previous sentence, all the money in the world isn’t going to help.
That is the part they always leave out.
It always ends up by raising the taxes to be more "fair".
It is like charities where 100% of the revenues go into administering the program. In this case the feds will need additional employees to oversee the program, additional employees to oversee the politicization of propaganda they will call education, additional teachers to do the indoctrination of students, and of course new equipment and facilities for all.
